Routing VST instrument audio output to another VST instrument's audio input bus

Hi everyone,

I am trying to route the audio output of the Virus TI2 VST instrument into the audio input bus of TX16Wx, a third party VST sampler, in Fender Studio Pro 8.

I know this kind of routing is possible in Studio Pro 8 because Sample One (the built in PreSonus sampler) has an input selector labeled "Instrument" that allows it to receive audio directly from another VST instrument track. TX16Wx has a similar audio input bus called "In 1" in its MIDI Generator/Sampler section, but unlike Sample One it does not have that "Instrument" input selector built into the plugin itself — the developer has confirmed that routing to its input bus is entirely handled by the DAW host.

My current setup:
  • Track 1: Virus TI2 VST instrument track, output set to VirusTI2
  • Track 2: TX16Wx VST instrument track, currently receiving MIDI from the Virus but not audio
  • Both track meters are moving when I play, but TX16Wx's internal sampler input meters are not receiving the Virus audio
My goal is to have TX16Wx's MIDI Generator automatically send MIDI notes to the Virus TI2 to trigger each note, while simultaneously recording the Virus audio back into TX16Wx to build a multisampling library.

Is there a way in Studio One Pro 8 to route the audio output of one VST instrument track into the input bus of another VST instrument track the way Sample One's "Instrument" input does it? The end goal is to multi sample my Virus TI 2 patches that I love before I think of selling it.

Thanks in advance!
