Replace Event and keep fades or gain envelope

Hi there,
just to clarify - I tried a lot and watched some videos - but sadly it doesn't seem to be possible?!
I drag the clip from the browser while pressing ALT and move it over the old clip I want to be replaced, that has fades and a complex gain envelope.
The old clip is replaced BUT all fades etc. are gone.

Is the a way to keep the fades/gain envelope etc. on the new clip?

I don't think that's possible. Gain envelopes pertain to the clip/file and fades pertain to the event, so when you replace the file you clear the edits too. Also I don't see a way to just copy the envelopes to another track/event..

Yes, the best way so far is now: to insert the new clip in a track above or below the old clip, zoom in and try to 'copy' the fades/envelope by hand and compare by listening.
