I don’t need a hub. I have 3 empty ports.
And yes I also tried unplugging and I uninstalled the driver and deleted the hidden devices in device manager. Made no difference.
I don’t have to do anything other than removing it in S1 midi set up and then re creating the device. Only takes a minute. And now the last few times I’ve booted S1 it was still convected. So might have been something else that was causing this problem. We will see.
The DTX drum brain is also staying connected.
I looked up that USB tool and it’s way beyond my capabilities of computer tech.
Whatever is going on over there - it appears to be environmental to your machine.
If this was a rampant issue with S1 - we would all be complaining about this specific issue.
As I added from a previous post on Page 1 - with my S61 MKII and ATOM - there is simply no way to have my DAW machine NOT connected to these two - as long as the rules are followed:
Machine boot (with no immediate logon)
Power up audio interface
Power up S61 MKII
Power up ATOM (if needed)
Login to Windows 10 and allow for 5 minute initialization and calm down period
Finally - when ready - launch Studio One
Every single day since Oct 18, 2020 - when I first got the S61MKII - this has been the recipe and these devices are always there and always ready - through at least 5 different iterations of Studio One and two complete DAW hardware change outs.
That USBView tool was the superstar of it all - showing me exactly which ports on each DAW motherboard mattered and where each devices ideal connection points are vs just "winging" it and plugging stuff in with no rhyme or reason.
As other have mentioned as well - if you have not done a power study and specifically altered your USB port power behavior (sleep, always on etc) - I suspect there may be a number of things going on there as well. (especially an unannounced/unplanned port suspend action)
Simply plugging things in "on the fly" - especially when a hub is part of the equation is a crap shoot at best since every machine is unique and more often that not - there is work to do to arrive at the optimum USB map.
USB can work very well
when reined in - but it is not always this "panacea" of connection bliss that everyone makes it out to be.
Finally - do remember too - pretty sure Studio One itself does not support every MIDI device made since 1995 either.
Even after a bunch of work - you may run into some oddball device (even with drivers etc) that simply does not want to behave. That is going to happen here and there.
