Quirky and Austere device, the HD Quantum 8's Sophie's Choice

After another month and some more looking into this, the old "DAW" tracks of the OLD 1824 for instance Interface that UC auto generates, are for software returns such as outputs of Voicemeeter, or Studio One. The Quantum don't got these software returns. The "USB" are named that because they are the USB connected interface outs. Has nothing at all to do with the studio one outputs or the old "DAW" convention of auto generated channels on the Studio series of Presonus Interfaces as they were in the Universal Control.

There ARE no software returns generated or creatable in the Quantum HD8's panel. They have decided to limit us by not allowing these things. So instead you need to point your daw or Voicemeeter explicitly at the ADAT or ANALOG out from the interface you want the audio you are routing to go out of. Then you also have the "analog" or "analog + ADAT" Sophie's choice of the settings of the austere HD8. The channels you love less get denied existance. The Analog + ADAT is the work camps for your ANALOG outputs. The Analog is the gas chamber for your ADAT SENDS. You are not allowed both choices!

And rather than to say, "Arbeit Makt Fracht" 'workflow', on the request for a feature to add WDM capability for the ADAT ins to the Quantum HD8 ;), I would say the Playflow. But you do you.

There are what I would consider to be major issues to the UC panel for the Quantum HD8 (no ability to show the entire stack of sends in Analog + ADAT mode without a dumb scrolling, while the meters take up 2/3 of the screen in fullscreen, and the inability to zero out the audio to zero by any means, whether it be ctrl+click or typing the 0.0 in). It almost seems to me like whoever made it never used one of these interface mixer panels before. There are certainly people out there like that. And the Windows user will have different needs than the Apple user due to windows not having an Aggregate audio capability like the one on apple devices.

The final insult I have to critique is the absence of the 1/2 out in the sends on all versions of the panel. YOU SHALL NOT CHOOSE WHAT HAPPENS WITH THESE OUTPUTS!!! Jeezus.
