Question: Event Fade waveform display option?

Hi team. I just updated to Studio Pro 8 after sticking with 6.6 for a long time...

My question has to do with waveform displays on audio events. When you drag a fade handle across the event, the waveform display changes to "helpfully" reflect the change in audio.

Is there a way to disable that behavior? I much prefer seeing the un-faded audio waveform of the underlying event, so that i know what is being affected by the fade, BEFORE it takes effect.

Cheers

Here's the best I can offer. Right-click on the track and choose Duplicate Layer before you add any fades. Then you can do whatever you want to the main track, and the graphic for the layer below it will remain unchanged. After making your edits, Hide or Delete the layer.
