Solved Push Back?

I'm working on a project that I started with a open 3 bar lead in (like I usually do) but now I'd like to add another 3 or 4 bars for a drum intro. I know I can make cuts in the audio and MIDI events but that could be messy and time consuming with all the channels I have in it. I would be very surprised if this amazing piece of software that has already showed me some amazing things it can do does not a a trick up it's sleeve to make an easier way to "push back" all the events in one (or maybe two) motions.

Thanks
:)John B

My safe solution is the arranger track. You can select all sections and drag to create more room. If you're not using the arranger track already then simply create one section for the whole song and drag that.

Exactly as SwitchBack points out. You can then drag the arrangement track part(s) back however you like, thereby moving the song further back and providing space up front.

You can also shift back (arrangement track or not) by creating a loop start and end point at the beginning. Let's say, 4 bars long as an example. Then right click within the timeline there, and select to Insert time. Everything will move back 4 bars, including markers, automation, etc. Just the way moving the arrangement track does. Your choice and as you can see, both ways shift the song back, effortlessly.

Thanks, both. I'll try those.

You guys are so resourceful! No more destroying a whole project just to add a few bars.
Thanks so much!!

Ask away. Thats what we're here for.
The intent is to make you more proficient at what it is you're trying to accomplish.
Never destroy the WIP, as the work that is in the moment, can often not be replaced. Made better? Sometimes, but it's never a good path destroying things. As you've probably already found with Studio One, the learning gets easier.

The "Insert Silence" caught me out back in V4.x. I was looking for something that inserted bars or measures. Sometimes you just need the right terms to search with!

I still prefer Insert Silence in Loop because you can easily draw the range where you want to insert silence. Yes, you can also make a range selection, but you have to apply it across all tracks, which involves scrolling or using an additional shortcut (or macro). Insert Silence in Loop doesn’t require any of that.

Ah, this is soo unfortunate. Here I was, plugging the Arranger track as I would never do a song without using it. Raining on my parade this is... ;)

I think the rally around Lukas' point was just the quick means to insert silence is all. That is to say on its own merit of quick and easy. Without the arranger track, I can't imagine the amount of work I'd have to do shifting parts around on a whole, as I do that a lot. The advantage I'd say to your great point as well is, once one creates the arranger track, then they're off and running with re arrangement value added. Not just adding silence.

But when the snippers have to come out to insert silence, I do find the insert silence feature is a one step process that works best. Even with the arrangement track already in place. MMV of course.
Awesome, you brought up the arrangement track option. 👍
I'm a drummer in the arrangement track parade.

As per LokeyFly & Switchback - for me - I see my beloved Arranger Track as my "bowl of silence" and I am simply moving things around in it.

But yes - Luka's move is clutch when you need it.

Yeah, just having a bit of fun here. Cool to have options for sure, as per Lukas's videos. Still important to remember that not all options shift everything. The videos explain that too.

I'm loving the "bowl of silence" thing. I just think of the Arranger as empty until I fill it.
I'll try to be more positive in future... ;)
