Pro Navigator is finally here! 🎉

Hey everyone,

I'm really happy to finally announce that Pro Navigator is out!

It's a new scripting add-on for Fender Studio Pro that adds more than 100 new commands for navigation, track and channel management, event editing, plug-in control, session organization and lots of other everyday workflow tasks.

Some of the bigger features include Track Markers, Auto-Color rules, Favorite Instruments, batch renaming and sorting, smart track and event selection, and a whole bunch of new commands that you can use in your own macros, keyboard shortcuts, MIDI controllers or Stream Deck setups.

But most importantly, I want to say a big thank you to everyone here who shared ideas, suggestions and feature requests with me!

A lot of the ideas behind Pro Navigator came directly from discussions and requests from Studio One users over the years. While working on it, I tried to implement as many of those ideas as I could... and the project ended up becoming quite a bit bigger than I originally planned. 😄

So I'm very excited that it's finally out!

Congrats. Wow - looks like an instant buy to me.

Q: Would this ben considered an "upgrade" to Navigation Essentials? And if so - is the an upgrade price for existing users?

Cheers

VP

Thanks VP!

Navigation Essentials is a freebie, so there isn’t an upgrade path from it to Pro Navigator :-)

And there is a 20% launch discount for all Harmony Wizard and Scoring Tools customers, available through September 20!

You’ll find a notice right below the purchase button on the Pro Navigator page. Just click "Check our offer".

Checked it. I also found my download mail for HW (via Payhip) in my Mail inbox. But obviously I didn't create an account back then for purchasing it (bought as guest? Idk). So before doing something wrong: what are my options? I tried it with the mail address I used for purchasing and the "Forgot password", but got an Error: "Login or email doesn't exist". :(

Thanks Lukas. Like Crossinger - my PayHip experience was a bit of a mess - but at least I had an account.

Took me a bit of back and forth with passwords, verification codes and so on - but I think I am now sorted and was able to purchase Pro Nav at the discount.

Looking forward to getting this new addon rolling.

Cheers

No worries - recovering the password fails because you didn't create an account, so that's expected. Since you still have your original Harmony Wizard purchase email, please click on the "Download Now" button in the email. On the download page, you should see a notice that lets you claim the discount for Pro Navigator.

Alternatively, you could create a new Payhip account with the email email address you used for purchasing. When you first log in, you should see your purchased products in your account (HW in this case).

Let me know if that works!

Hi Lukas,

as Vocalpoint said: it was a little "forth & back" with the Payhip account until I got everything sorted. Now I have a new account with proper login, and got my licenses (HW and Ari's MaiTai Presets) migrated into the new account. So, it finally worked, and I could complete my purchase. Many thanks! :)

Congrats, Lukas!

I will pick this up for sure!

Congratulations on the release! Looks like a no-brainer to me...

Can we assume that the entire toolbar can be shown/hidden from the Macro context menu?

Awesome Lukas. Appreciate the intro price & Harmony Wizard/Scoring Tools discount. Looks great - you've been busy!

Hey Lukas,

Installing Pro Navigator confused me initially as it installed into 7.23 instead of 8.1.

There seems to be a bug in 8.1.1 where it shows all user-made macros as 'user macros'.

I found this because I was customizing the Pro Navigator toolbar (to add some of my own macros).

The user macros show up fine when editing Keyboard Shortcuts...

Can you confirm?

Hi @madFloyd,

thanks for the feedback!

Installing Pro Navigator confused me initially as it installed into 7.23 instead of 8.1.
It actually installs into whichever app you open it with. If you drag the .install file into Studio Pro 8, it will install into Studio Pro 8.

What I suspect happened is that you double-clicked the .install file, and your Windows 11 system is currently set to open .install files with version 7 instead of version 8. So this is actually "by design".

I would always recommend dragging the Pro Navigator.install file directly into Studio Pro. That way, there's no ambiguity about which version it gets installed into :-)

There seems to be a bug in 8.1.1 where it shows all user-made macros as 'user macros'.
I can't confirm this here. My drop-down menu doesn't show any "User Macro" entries.

"User Macro" is usually the default name Studio Pro assigns when you create a new macro but don't give it a name. It's also possible that some of them were downloaded from the (PreSonus) Exchange.

My suggestion: don't use this "Macro" submenu when assigning macros to buttons. It's a bit clunky and doesn't have a search field. Instead, use "Assign Command":

This window shows macros as well, has a proper search field, and, at least to my taste, is much nicer to work with.

Addition: If you have that many "User Macro" entries in your macro folder, you should also see them in the Macro Organizer. From there, you can delete them if you no longer need them - ideally after checking whether they're still in use or are actually just orphaned macros.

I have a fair number of test macros that I only created to test things in my add-ons. It's a good idea to go through them from time to time and get rid of some unused ones.

Thank you, Lukas, that helped. All good now!

Hey Lukas, this is fantastic, thanks for all the hard work you put into it, defo gonna make a lot of things way more streamlined!

Quick Q about the batch rename function, I’m particularly excited about this! Is there a way to keep the original track names but add a sequential numerical prefix to all selected tracks? As far as I can see, the numbering only seems to work if you rename all tracks with the same name. Would be super useful if automatic numbering could work whilst retaining the names. Am I missing something?
Thanks again, another great add on :)

Hi @soundofdrums, thank you :-)

Am I missing something?
Yes - you can use the [name] and [num] variables. This is also useful if you want the sequential numbers somewhere in the middle of the text.

It's also explained in the online manual :-)

oooh that’s cool…kinda like magic ;)
Thanks Lukas 👊🏼

I remember we got a similar script (enable / disable numbering) by a Support guy in the old Presonus Forum. Unfortunately, I cannot recall his name. The main purpose of the script was preparing track names for stem export to keep the track order in the resulting audio files. I guess this script can now be retired. :)
