Preview: Instrument Mapping Update

An updated version of the Instrument Mapping add-on is currently being developed. It has a much better workflow, more reliable matching, and is applicable to a wider range of use cases. I'll share it later after I finish testing it but for now I'm just sharing a video of it's current state.

See the video in the first post for a better overview than just the images that were there before.

Attached below is a time limited demo package. There may still be bugs and I'm still developing it so it's really more a demo/beta. I didn't change the UID so if you have any previous version, delete it first.

The commands are ...
  • Edit Instrument Maps...
  • Apply Instrument Map...
They appear in the track menu but you of course you can bind them to hotkeys and macro toolbar buttons.

In this version, instruments are automatically named after loading so there's no need to fire that command to rename instruments like I did it in the video. The command is still included so you can use it otherwise.

One potentially odd thing: In the track menus I went to great pains to place the three additional actions in specific menu positions as shown in the image below...
  • Removed Unused Instruments
  • Apply Track Names to Events
  • Apply Track Names to Instruments

But on my second computer they end up in completely different positions.

Just curious if the default positions hold for others.

I've added a map for PSO below. Change the file extender to .map and put it in the data folder.
Note: The PSO map can be noticably slow to load which I assume is because the presets are on a soundset.
