Presonus deliberately limiting the functionality of the Quantum HD8. This thing is total garbage.

Clutter. That's one of the only things it is more beneficial for. As that would add 8 more entries in my Tor Vergata Oscilloscopes which have like 3 at a time entry visibility in the Input dropdowns, in many of the versions I use all the time (a few versions of the Tor Vergata Oscilloscopes don't have main window select fields for audio in at all, as you can always go in the settings and look for this setting).

The Voicemeeter doesn't see them. Don't know about FlexASIO, or ASIO link pro or even the OBS ASIO. They don't show up in Voicemeeter as in ADAT OUT 5-6 Quantum HD8 or ADAT IN 5-6 Quantum HD8 for example.

For me this is a new disturbance because the old 1810c and 1824c DID have these ADAT endpoints visible to Windows Audio. I highly doubt it's more professional to have less options, unless being a professional means you are into self deprivation. But it's a wild world.

It looks like you're stuck in your ways, you already decided that the HD8 is "total garbage", and all this thread is about is for you to get confirmation. Maybe this is the wrong place for that.

The choice PreSonus/Fender made to not expose the ADAT inputs to WDM seems to be because of modern DAWs being expressly designed for ASIO (or MacOS Core Audio). This prevents device saturation and driver conflicts at the OS level - high-channel-count multi-client WDM routing (in Windows) is somewhat unstable and prone to sample rate locking issues. Restricting the WDM exposure to core inputs limits driver overhead and OS-level crashes.

However, the RME Fireface UFX111 and the MOTU UltraLite Mk5 do expose their complete hardware channel counts (including ADAT) to Windows, so maybe you could have a look there. I'd take your case to whoever you bought the HD8 from and ask to return it and swap it out for one of these.

I’d stay away from ASIO4ALL. The native Fender HD ASIO is pretty good, as these things go.

ASIO4All - is a disaster. Nuff said.
