Ping an input to compensate for recording latency

Oblique Audio RTL tool is what I use. It is free.
It has clear instructions.
 
Here's a good video to explain. There's a video in the Video Tutorials too but it takes 13 minutes longer to explain the same thing.

Great video. But he did not explain is he using 1 cable from his main output to his input? And playback is on the source channel to main? and the input to the record channel is from Main??
 
It is 1 cable from 1 output to 1 input. He didn't use the Main output but probably you could, because it doesn't matter just as long as you don't create an actual feedback loop (so the DAW must not route the input you use to the output you use). The whole point of the test is to verify the time it takes for a signal from playing in the DAW to being recorded in the DAW. Maybe the 19 minute video does provide the extra detail you're looking for. Simply search the Video Tutorials on this forum's homepage for 'loopback'.

Thanks I did the test and between the original and the copy was 3ms ahead of the original? … i have to look again where he made the adjustment…
