Now this is pretty cool....

It's primarily a plugin controller. You want to design a synth sound, let's say, then you bring up that synth on the internal screen, quite some of its controls are (automatically) mapped to the knobs, and the other non-knob elements can be operated via the touch screen.
In that sense, it's more akin to working with Komplete Kontrol rather than with FaderPort.
Do you mind if I answer this in reverse order.
This is correct the MP Midi's initial design was/is as a VST controller. I suppose the ref to KKontrol is one very good way of looking at it.

But that is exactly not what it's designed for. It's not a DAW on a touchscreen (which you can already have with the Remote Control app) nor is it a channel strip or mixing console. Although you can use it like that, particularly with the latest update.
@SwitchBack is correct in referring back to the OP by @Vocalpoint it was the SO1/FSP DAW template being referred too.
Me as an owner of an MP Midi joined the debate and after having tried that template found my FPort8 and a Stream deck and the Remote app covered most of what the MP Midi template offered. So his view is very relevant from that perspective as a Daw controller.

Perfect sense

I have one of these and the feeling of it is incredible
How does the nAc software work.
The promo gives the impression that it creates keyswitches on the fly, or is this something you have to setup in advance via it's control software the "nAc",?

Kindest regards.
