No longer have access to Studio One Pro v7?

I have a perpetual licence for Studio One Pro v7, and had a hardware-related year's subscription to Plus which ran out over the weekend. On trying to open Studio One Pro v7.2.3, I'm presented with an activation screen which I kind of expected. However, on opening MyFender I see that I have product keys for Studio pro V8 and Studio One V4 and V5, but no V7! As I have some projects that I don't yet want to migrate to V8, this is a problem. I've raised a ticket, but has anyone else had a similar issue?

And I'd forgotten that I replied to that thread too - just before I lost it! Did you get an answer from Support?

OK, I'll update here if I get an answer.

I've also discovered that I have no access to most of the additional instruments brought to Studio One during 2025 (Cinematic Lights, Lead Architect, Sub Zero Bass, Deep Flight One) even though they're in my account, and I can download and install them - they aren't accessible from within Studio Pro after the update to 8.0.1.

Haven’t tried that since I don’t use any of those instruments.

I don’t get why they don’t simply give us the option to have access to all previous versions by having the latest license. When I was still using Cubase I could always access all the old version with the latest license. That would be cool as well for Studio Pro/One

I don't think this is an intentional license thing - I have a Perp version of 7.2.3 which is still working fine, along with a new version of Fender Pro Studio Pro Fender Studio v8.0.1 which is also working. Cock-up, not conspiracy ;)

I’m sure you’re right, but it’s intensely annoying as essentially I can do no work on the projects that I don’t want brought into V8, and even those that I don’t mind having in V8 can’t use several plugins that should be available to me.

Well, another license mess by Fender, to follow on from the license mess by Fender a few months ago.
Professional stuff.

Having your license vanishing out of the blue is really inexcusable. I got important projects to work on with V7. I had no other choice than to open them in V8 now and hope that I can get them back to V7 files with Lukas tool once Fender has restored my license.

I've tried several times to get the four included instruments mentioned above to load, along with PreSonus Studio Grand and anything for Sample One. As far as I can tell, none of the default instruments has anything but the very basic content. Studio Pro can see and use any of my third-party VSTs, but none of the content that is supposed to be included with the normal installation (and quite a lot that came with earlier packages that I own) seems to be accessible. I have all of it (instruments and sound sets) saved, but none will install. So I can't trust the DAW at all for the moment; looks like I'm back to Sonar or giving Steinberg a call!

Can you expand upon the timeline for this? Did you have a perpetual license BEFORE the sub - or are you assuming you simply have one now - because the sub expired?

And it is also interesting that you have no v6 key either - did you simply skip v6 all together?

I am not familiar with how "keys" are actually deposited/allocated in a subscription scenario. Did you need to enter a key when you started that hardware related sub? Regardless of whether a sub is free or paid - I have to assume there is a standard activation process?

I never had V6. While I had the Plus account, I could have downloaded v6, but as I had no perpetual licence for it there wasn’t much point.

I got the V7 licence with 6 months Plus as a benefit associated with a PreSonus hardware buy (Quantum ES2). There was an offer on at the time to upgrade that 6 months to a perpetual licence and an extra 6 months’ Plus for another £75, which I took at the same time as the hardware purchase. The Plus element and my entitlement to upgrades beyond v8.0 ran out on 29th January 2026. As expected, I have SPv8 on my account and I should still have v7.2.3 along with the v4/v5 licences that go back a few years. I should also have access to the four instruments which were part of the v7 package and updates through 2025.

I don’t think it has to do with the subscription. I never had a subscription and my perpetual license also vanished.

Q: While you were "in" your sub - did you actually see V7 installers in your account?

My first vibe is - since this thing just ran out - like 4 days ago - pretty sure there is something going on in the backend that can be squared up for you. This "account" site has been shaky for a long while - especially with the big changes in Jan 2026.

If one is expecting to see an instant perpetual license to appear at 12:00:01am on the first day after a sub expiry - I think we might need to lower our expectations.

My second vibe here - is another angle that may be a bit more odd. Q: I am assuming your sub WAS active when you moved FROM v7 to v8?

I could have swore I read somewhere that while a sub is rolling along - and you keep updating and "accepting" new versions - AND then the sub run out - you ARE officially left with (and can only download) the very last version your were on when you went perpetual.

In a very extreme example - if there was a sub program in 2009 with Studio One v1 and you signed on and kept it going for 17 years and then ended it today - I do not believe you are automatically entitled to 17 years worth of prior installers - you would see the installer for the last one you used as the sub transitions to perpetual.

I could be very wrong here - but it would be interesting to find out.

There are two ways to activate - Pro+ or standard. If you are able to get to the Activation menu option, try activating via the non "+" option

I think you are correct Bob.

I recall I had this screen for my perpetual when my Annual Updates ended on Oct 9, 2025. This "activation" is simply a yearly checkpoint and did not need a key. It just went through and "activated". Also remember that this checkpoint occurs once per year as well.

When I look at my About screen in Studio One 7 now - my "valid until" field says 9.10.2026 (Oct 9, 2026)

You could try removing the user.license file from the installation folder. It will recreate itself, but might have gotten corrupted with the license shift from subscription to perpetual.

I would back that up before messing around with it...
