Nektar CS12 now compatible with FSP8 (and Studio One v6/7)

I didn't see any announcement, but Nektar's product page now shows the CS12 as compatible with Fender Studio Pro 8 (and Reaper) along with the established compatibility with Logic and Cubase/Nuendo. Arguably the best plugin controller currently available, this is a big plus. I thought it wasn't officially compatible with Studio One, but deep in the page it says it will work with SOv6 and v7.. https://nektartech.com/products/panorama-cs12/

That is actually good news. I was watching for when it would add support for more DAWs.

I thought I was, but apparently this happened a month or so ago and I completely missed it!

I just bought the Softube Flow Studio, so I'll wait till next month to pick up the CS12 - but, as a signed-up Nektar fan - I can't wait!

Please excuse my diverting this thread a little, but...
Any chance you might run a post about the Softube Flow hardware when you have had time to get familiar with it.
I'd be interested to know the ins and outs.

Anyway good news all round I s'pose.

Kindest regards.

The best review of it I've seen is by Dom Sigalas. Sanjay C's is useful, but not as comprehensive. My first impressions after just a few days are that it's a very nicely-built unit with a fabulous display. The suite of plugins that it comes with are good, though perhaps not as comprehensive as you might like, but the main benefit of the unit is fast workflow while 'in the zone'. It won't replace the detailed work that you might do ITB when finishing a track - though it can achieve all of that if you have the requisite Softube plugins - but as a rapid 'sweetener' it's unmatched. It will become a lot more useful if Softube add compatibility with other brands' plugins - as they've started to do with their Console 1 - but so far I think it's great. If they did extend its compatibility it might arguably compete with the CS12 more directly, but for now the CS12 is uniquely good at its job.

As an aside, it sits very nicely next to my P-1 Nano on my rig in my house and those two units together almost remove any need to use the keyboard and mouse or even look at the big screen. I'm still going for the CS12 for my studio rig, but I might add another Studio Flow for that too!

OK ta for the reply!
watched the Dom Segalas, and the Flow plugs are subscription free (you pay the sub for extra plugins) which is cool.
Couple of things I may have missed, or he didn't cover are the Plugins iLok register and do you need the plugin on every channel for Daw use?
Interesting, if it was a standalone piece of gear I would be all over it.

Anyways kindest regards and thanks for getting back to me.

The iLok registration is a single item (a 'locked group') which includes all of the 25 included plugins. They're available individually within the DAW should you wish to use them that way, but to use the hardware there's a library plugin which is the software interface between the hardware and the Softube collection - that's the plugin you install on each channel you wish to effect with the Flow suite. It's a bit like the SSL360 integration, but it's a bit more straightforward.

Yes, I had time to check a few of the other YTube reviews. Matty Harris gives a good breakdown ;)

Anyway back to your OP., thanks for indulging my curiosity.

Regards as always

This is very recent, definitely not a month cause I have been checking their website at leat every week for this. And I'm also on the mailing list for updates on this and did not receive anything (still, a week after release apparently). I need to do some calculating to see whether I can already get one, but it's at the top of my wishlist. I already have a Faderport 2, Faderport 16 and SSL UC1 for control. The CS12 would fill the gap the UC1 leaves for controlling plugins that don't fit the UC1 layout and will make the hardware hands-on workflow complete. This is great news and I can't wait for someone to make a video about the Studio Pro/Studio One integration!

Same here, they are not very upfront with promotion.
You seem to be the only one who already has one. Can you do a description of the integration with Studio Pro? I'm VERY interested!

Dave, I'm on that email list too and still haven't received anything. Production Expert noted the release on 24 April - 3 days after I caught it on the Nektar website and posted here, but I did see something to suggest it had been announced at the end of March - that may not have been the release date, however. Either way, it's definitely out! Nektar aren't great at customer communication for some reason - their release of the Impact Mk 3 keyboards was equally quiet.

There was talk of them being close to release it somewhere in March, they replied that to several Facebook posts about it, but after that nothing. Until a little over a week ago apparently.

I've also been looking at the Auriteq Flow controller, which is very similar to the Stream Deck Plus but with dedicated plug-in routines. It's not yet Studio Pro compatible, but it's a lot cheaper and smaller than the CS-12

Yeah, that one looks interesting as well. I don't know what their plans are regarding FSP

I was looking further into the Auriteq this afternoon. The hardware is available under a number of names for around £80-£90 from Amazon etc. I happen to already have the associated device software for a 3x5 Stream DOck I have on my home computer. I'm going to have a look at how easy it is to make routines for my most-used plugins, and if I crack that I may go for one of these devices. I also have a StreamDEck XL on my studio computer, and I've looked enviously at the StreamDeck XL Plus with 36 pads and 6 encoders, and I reckon a software profile for that could be a bit of an earner!

That said, I've had a nightmare this afternoon trying to get the new SideshowFX profile for Studio Pro 8 working on my StreamDeck XL. Sadly, the recent MIDI 2.0 Windows updates have borked the MIDI controls the device uses, and their workaround doesn't work! It was the centre of my workflow for many things - well, still is for many other things, but not Studio One/Pro any more!
