Move FX Channels into Folder

In the console, I tried to move my Drum Plate FX Channel into the same folder with my drums, but when closing the folder, the FX Channel isn't hidden with the audio and midi tracks.

I had the same problem with a VCA channel.

Can FX/VCAs not be added to folders? It's a workflow I enjoy in Reaper and Logic for keeping sessions tidy and organised.

I'm on S1 v6 so I wondered if maybe it's different in the latest V7 release.

The folder icon in the console is direct link to the folder in the arranger. It has been confusing me as well, since tracks and channels are supposed to be such distinct UI elements...

What you have to do is create an automation track for the FX/VCA channel (e.g. volume) and then you can drag that automation track into the folder in the arranger window. It does make the arranger window a bit messier but it tidies up the console window when you collapse the folders.

Well, with respect to keeping your effects bundled with let's say an instrument, and track, you could try saving as a preset. This will store in any track or future song you desire to call up as a preset later on. You'd simply right click on your tracks and load preset. Be sure to name your preset so that its clear before loading.

I.e. A setup that works well for your Strat, amp + cab choice, reverb and setting might look like....
"Strat-Ampire-Blkface-twin-clean-Opn Air-Lg Hall."
Or
"Mesa-4x4-hot flange, delay, 2msec plate", and so on.

Effectively, a folder ready at any time. 👍
In some ways, a cleaner one track (relocate where you like) alternative. Just like a folder.

This has been available since version 5, I believe.
