Modulation

Do you guys think we’ll ever get modulation inside FSP? I don’t wanna brag, because I love this software so much, but I can’t help getting jealous over Cubase.
Thoughts?

Modulation? What exactly?
Oh c‘mon Lukas. ;) I‘m quite sure you know exactly what the OP meant: Bitwig and Cubase are currently the kings of modulating arbitrary targets (plugin parameters and more) with LFO’s and other modulation sources as part of the core functionality. In fact, Steinberg was new to the party with Cubase 14, but did a good job in implementing this feature.

Yep! Would be such a nice thing to have. I have tried Cubase’s and Ableton’s implementation too in the last days and I must say they are quite useful!

Just out of interest you can set up complex Modulations in Unify 2. All the LFO's and the sequencer is inside Unify 2. Which can be used inside your DAW. Not only for any virtual synths you may have but also for any plugins too. Audio can be routed in and out of Unify 2. There are 32 Macro knobs in Unify 2 and they can be assigned to audio effects midi effects and virtual synth parameters. Any parameters. Every Macro control has a complex LFO assigned to it.

But yes I agree for sure. Modulating plugin parameters directly would be a great feature.

this is SO AWESOME WHAT!!!
whoever thought of making a plugin hoster like this deserves way more praise…
of course this is not even close to perfect, because by default i would still load the plugins by themselves. BUT maybe if i want to modulate something i could save the settings i did as a preset, then load unify 2 with that plugin’s saved preset. would be a good workaround.
i’ll see if i can maybe find a cheaper alternative though, very pricy.
thank you so much for the recommendation!!

I’m somewhat less enthusiastic. Sure, there are plugin options available. I have Kilohearts SnapHeap for this purpose. But it’s still inferior to a native integration in the core DAW functionality.

yes, i agree. i’m just glad i finally have something to go off of instead of doing an automation and trying to work with that.
snaphead is great, wish i could load 3rd party stuff in there though:(

Out of interest (Plugin Guru) Unify 2 is an amazing self contained synth with a group of virtual synths and audio effects provided. The Unify Standard library comes with and it is incredible and very extended and covers a lot of territory. (currently 735 patches but he updates this all the time so it is growing) It sounds fabulous. It runs with no plugins required on your system. You can edit all the sounds of course. I started this way before I started scanning my other plugins and it then allows you to stack things up very easily and fast. There are many Unify libraries now that don't require any plugins on your computer either. But there are also many libraries that require certain virtual synths to be on your machine. These are also amazing. I have got 86 Unify 2 libraries now. (20,000 patches) Modulation can take place on everything of course. Every parameter that can be midi learned etc on every layer. And yes you just save the whole setup and it loads in an instant. You can send audio from Studio Pro into it and back again just for processing if you want.

There is an amazing amount of stuff you can do in Unify that cannot be done in any other DAW also. There is a powerful arpeggiator, PolyBox (rhythm generator) and a full blown sequencer also built in. These can all be used to modulate as well as complex LFO's of course. The sound quality is stellar and John Lehmkuhl is doing amazing patch creations these days. He has got some top coders working with him too. John has a massive patch creation history working for top synth companies in the past. The cost of it though is fine once you get to know what it can do. It's $20 off at the moment too.

the arp sounds so cool too! i downloaded the demo yesterday and couldnt load my 3rd party vsts, then crashed 2 times and just gave up on it.
also, where is it discounted? couldn’t find it

They have only just released the demo version maybe there are some issues with not sure. The full version certainly does not crash on my system though that is for sure. Use the code CINCODE20 when checking out and $20 will be reduced. This offer was sent to existing users so I assume this applies to new users as well. I can check. It's valid till May 5th.
