MIDI controller works only with channel editor window opened

Hi! I need your help on the following issue

I work with Studio One 5 and want to control VSTi parameter with my MIDI controller - rotary speaker speed from GSi B3 hammond

When I try to use channel editor to assign the Slow/Fast parameter from VSTi to the MIDI knob - it works fine but only when channel editor window is opened. When I close it - seems like assignment becomes inactive - controller doesnt operate the parameter. What am I doing wrong? I would like to set channel editor mappings for different parameters and controls and close it to have a view on a arrangement

Please update your signature (see link and example in mine) with your system specs.

Which MIDI controller are you using and are your assignments global?

Here's a MIDI controller setup video tutorial to check out...

I am constantly confused by this but I think it's to do with the focus mode and whether you link it with a blue arrow or a yellow arrow. That changes whether the link only works when you have the window open or whether it always works.

However, over the years I've often struggled with this and keep thinking blue will work and then it stops so I move to yellow and vice versa. So I'm watching this thread to see if anybody can categorically clear this up for me because it's a bit of a pain.
