Macro for adding FX Channel to selected channel send

Good morning or good afternoon or good evening or whatever it is wherever you are. I'm attempting to further streamline my setup. I have some downtime this coming week and am attempting to expedite my workflow further with a few new macros.

My goal would be to select a channel in the console and add an FX channel to the send of it that would populate with the correct effect that I want. Separately, I would like to add the associated external instrument for control of the unit at the same time. Thus far I have been able to create a macro where the FX channel with the name of the unit and the associated external instrument are correctly inserted. Great.

I have not, however, been able to figure out how to add the ability to add the FX channel to the send of the console channel I have selected. I have tried multiple variations of this but it appears as though I am unable to figure it out. I have tried putting the Add Send command first and various other slightly related commands but just cannot seem to get it quite right. Any help would be appreciated.

this is as far as I got, but I find the dragndrop route of plugins into the send area of a channel more efficient.

Very nice idea. The problem is that a) there is no command for that and b) the "Add Send" command does not have a Name argument so you can't pass your "Quantec" FX channel in the macro. This means the command will require user interaction - not ideal conditions for macro automation.

Support for adding busses and connecting channels to busses is better. When it comes to Sends, however, there are still a couple of missing commands.

@FMN-Music Good job... but looks a bit hacky. I haven't tried it - does it work reliably?

Will absolutely try this. Thank you very much for the suggestion! Genuinely appreciate it. And while I do also admire the efficiency of the drag and drop for plugins, it does slow things down a bit for me in this particular situation.

Absolutely. I have a ton of busses and channel linking and routing macros and am constantly surprised at how much I can get done with them.

Also wanted to say thank you for pushing for sound variations to perform program changes. I know you had something to do with it and you deserve recognition for that forward thinking. As the screens on several of my devices are in various stages of slow deaths, being able to change the presets from Sound Variations has been an actual lifesaver. The ability and integration allowing control over these hardware units from studio one is incredible.

Thanks, much appreciated. I had almost forgotten about that - yes, that was back in 2021 when we added Sound Variations to Studio One. For me, it was important to support not just (software) sample libraries with Sound Variations, but also hardware, and Program Changes are still very common there.
