I still have to check MIDI cc. I'd only be able to see the macro controls positions off of massive X as to what cc they're sending. Not sure if that's helpful.
The varied levels seems to be some ballistic variable. Perhaps shared? Dunno. From my end not seeing variables may not be a good source for troubleshooting, but I'll still have a poke. Will take a few hours though.
If controller levels vary, I dont know what that will benefit. Its evedently only out of particular Massive X filter cuttof. Sorry for the drips out of the fawcett on my behalf (illness in immediate family), but did you RedSky contact Presonus support? They'll immediately see if the variability (by mouse) is a Studio One issue. That will at least tell you this is some variation addressed towards NI's Massive X, or some ballistics anomoly. You could also try some other DAW such as Reaper to trial and compare that you're getting full control to 100% reliably.
Another avenue I typically try when suggesting this kind of fix is, start a whole new song, no tracks except the Massive X. Use a different Massive X patch as well. Often, when composing, we poke around and engage some other parameter, synth filter or something that conflics with what we're seeing. No captured video can compete with starting fresh and minimizing outside variables. You may have done this? If so, sorry for not seeing that. Only, I'd seriously start there. Remember, NI protocol is often a little sketchy, and Massive X is already being coined "beta like" in some of its reviews.
