Locking Track Volume Automation

Hello Fender Studio Pro Team,

I would like to suggest a feature that could greatly improve workflow efficiency: the ability to lock the volume automation of a track.

This option would allow users to adjust the overall track volume while simultaneously shifting all associated automation points. In practice, this would eliminate the need to set up a dedicated VCA for every track that contains volume automation, making the process more intuitive and streamlined.

Such a feature would simplify mixing, save time, and provide a more direct way to manage levels without compromising existing automation.

Thank you for considering this idea, and for your continued work on Fender Studio Pro.

Best regards,Mohamed Dabachi

Hi and welcome to the forum,

note that this is an independent, user-driven forum and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or maintained by PreSonus / Fender. It's all about users helping users, so feel free to jump in with questions, share your knowledge, and connect with others who share your passion for music.

Although some of us here, including myself, have a very close connection to the Studio Pro development team, this forum is not the right place for feature requests. For that, there is a dedicated feature request platform where you can submit new feature requests and vote for existing ones:

https://feedback-software.fender.com

You can also find a link to this platform on the forum overview page, where it says Studio Pro Feature Requests.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

If you've read our welcome message, then you already know that this is an independent, user-driven forum and is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or maintained by PreSonus / Fender. It's all about users helping users, so feel free to jump in with questions, share your knowledge, and connect with others who share your passion for music.

You can also find a link to this platform on the forum overview page, where it says Studio Pro Feature Requests.

So this forum is mainly a place where Studio One / Studio Pro users can connect, share ideas and dive deeper into everything related to music production with Studio One.
How can I move this suggestion to the right place, please?

One remark: If you want to discuss your improvement idea (and get a few extra supporters in the process) then this forum here is the right place. Sparring can make the idea better before you post it, and once posted on the feature request platform (which isn't interactive really) you can add the link to the request here in the discussion thread to raise extra votes :)

The way that I use to accomplish the same result is to insert a Mixtool into the channel and set it to whatever gain I require.

I can see the use for such a locking feature, but I can also see why we haven't got it yet.

The best advice I can pass on regarding levels (tracks and balance) is to do it first, and with the utmost care, before anything else. If done correctly then there would be no need for a locking feature at the end of all things. But having said that I've done many times what Stuart does with Mixtool, and always felt a bit silly for it. So to me lock and tweak sounds like a winner.:)

PS. As an alternative to Mixtool you can tweak the entire automation curve at once with the Transform Tool (selectable instead of the Paint Tool).

Why silly, for me the mixtool is in most cases the better choice because of the smaller resolution. I've always wished that you can adjust the visualisation of automations but I've given up to request this.
