Is there a way to re-scan plugins without re-starting Studio One/Studio Pro?

Hello,

usually I disable the option "Scan at startup" in the settings dialog, because scanning takes a while and it is not necessary when no new plugins have been added.

However, whenever I add a new plugin, I have to enable "Scan at startup" and then re-start Studio One/Studio Pro in order to be able to use the new plugin.

Is there a way to initiate a plugin scan without closing and re-starting the program? All other DAWs I know have such an option.

Regards, Michael

Not that I know of. This is especially critical when you "remove" a plugin. S1/SP does not handle subtractions well - at all.

If/when I am ever messing with the plugin DB - I always destroy it first (in the Plugin Manager) and let S1/SP restart. It is the only way to be sure.

And - I have never disabled the plugin scan at startup either. My current DB startup scan (413 plugs) whips by in 2.3 secs. Not really necessary to turn that off.

I agree with VP but in a pinch, just click the "update list" button at the bottom in Plugin Manager. Works for me for those times I've turned off the startup scan, and added 1. Saves a restart/full rescan. 👍

I used to lean on this - until I found it really only works for "additions" and not subtractions.

If Fendersonus could show that button (and the actual scanning process some love) I think we would be golden.

But until that day....restart is the nuclear (and guaranteed option).

Not disagreeing with you. You quoted part of my response as though I was. The OP was looking for a way to add a plugin without a full rescan. This does that. Cheers👍

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I'll keep in mind that subtractions don't work that way and will follow the hints given by @Vocalpoint in this case. But until now I always added plugins, never removed ones.

I must admit: that button never really worked for me (Mac). Whenever I wanted a reliable rebuild of the plugin list, I opted for restarting the DAW.

Hit and miss for me as well. Hence the nuclear option :)
