Is there a way to automate adding and trimming points in an automation lane?

I'm trying clean up a bunch of messy MIDI and I'm looking for a way streamline a workflow for adjusting the sustain (CC 64) lane. I want to be able to place the cursor and use a shortcut to do the following:
  1. add a point
  2. move the cursor x steps
  3. add another point
  4. move the cursor between the two points
  5. trim to 0
  6. rinse and repeat

I've tried several macro ideas but have gotten nowhere. If you have an idea or, better yet, a solution, it would sure save me a lot of time.

Thanks for any help....

Unfortunately, this won't work. There is no command to add, select, or modify an automation point. Automation is a bit neglected when it comes to available commands. I've once discussed this with the team, but it hasn't been addressed so far.

The only option is to manually copy a point beforehand and then insert it via "Paste" in the macro. You might be able to cobble something together that way, but it’s unlikely to be particularly elegant or convenient - if it works at all.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't even thought of just copy and paste. It's at least better than what I've been doing

Using just straight copy and paste I just fixed up an old 2 min. piano piece in WAY less time than it would have taken before. Thanks again for the suggestion
