Is Notion still alive?

I try opening Notion now and it wants a product key and email as if I hadn't registered it, which I have. I am on the Studio One Pro + subscription and have been using Notion for almost two years without being presented with this. I don't have a "Product key" for Notion. I go to myPreSonus, to my account and my products and it shows Studio One's product key and those of third party products, but none for Notion. I am dead in the water.

Is Notion also dead now?

When I select Notion in products, the key is displayed just to the right of the Notion pic in blue on a black background ...

Not for me. BUT I ended up getting it to work by signing in with a "PreSonus Sphere" login (which I didn't even know that I had - and havee not had to do before) and which ended up being the same as my MyPreSonus.com login. So I'm back!

I'm still afraid they are going to let Notion go, tho.....

Yeah, Sphere used to be what Pro+ is now, at the time Notion had its last update...

It has been years since the last Notion desktop update. However, the device app is both free and has had more recent updates.

Honestly I would not invest in learning any software that is essentially abandonware, even if this is a Presonus forum, I can't do it in good conscience.

Dorico keeps hammering out great updates at record pace from what I hear, although I do not use notation software anymore for the writing or recording process, it's useless when you get good enough MIDI template.

So long as you keep everything ON THE BEAT/bar in MIDI, it will translate flawlessly to a transcriber/engraver regardless of which DAW you use.

This is how most pro composers work btw. James Newton Howard and Alan Silvestri can't be arsed to make Sibelius/Dorico files for their Cubase mockups.

Work how you want of course, I'm just saying depending on your goals, if it's to create realistic orchestra mockups, don't put too much pressure on yourself to output work in full score, working with MIDI is 1,000x better for all sorts of reasons.

If I did have to use a notation program I would use Dorico.
If you just need to render some quick sheet music Musescore is honestly totally serviceable as well in most cases though and it's free.
Even has VST support now!

I use Dorico, mainly for making Choir scripts from pieces I arrange in Synthesizer V Pro 2 and Studio One. I tried using Notion, but I couldn't easily grasp the workflow and its abandonware status left me a little nervous about putting in the effort to learn it!

When I need notation, I also use Dorico. While the full version is quite expensive, the Elements version is only $100 (less when on sale) and Steinberg generously put almost everything but the most advanced publication functionality into Elements, so I consider it a great value.

Looks like I need to check out Dorico

Dorico Elements 6 is great - much more flexible and user-friendly than Notion. The 60-day trial makes it easy to do everything you need to do to see if it suits you. Their video tips are very good too.

It’s a sad state of affairs when a competitor product is being recommended, but I do agree, and I have Dorico Pro myself. Dorico is cutting edge and will accomplish tasks that most folk would require, once you get to grips with it!

I was hopeful that the score edit page in Studio One would be continually updated and become more complete in itself, but I have a feeling (and I hope I’m wrong) but that too has not seen much love, and any major new additions to the score edit page has not come forth.
