Is it possible to get the tool picker back for the middle mouse button/wheel?

I used the wheel/button constantly for the tool picker, but it was replaced with other actions for 8.1. Is there a way to put it back?

So it's locked in? I miss the tool picker.

Also, when I choose the Split tool as the secondary/alternative for the Arrow tool, it occasionally gets changed on its own to the Paint tool, for no reason. This has occurred at least since ver. 7.

The tool picker was never gone. Middle click shows the tool picker like before. What was added is the scrolling feature by holding the middle mouse button while moving the mouse.

For me it is gone. Clicking it does nothing (I don't have a middle button, just L/R and the wheel).

Oh, that's because the "New Features & Improvements" for 8.1 touted this:

• Improved Middle-Click Behavior: The middle mouse button now defaults to horizontal and vertical scrolling.

And until that happened, I could use the wheel to select tools just by clicking it; now I can't. Perhaps it's time for a support ticket.

If it helps, by selecting the right mouse button, you get that same tool select menu at the top. I know, I know, habits can be hard to break. I'm still double clicking the channel plugins, only to expand the controls themselves and not open the plugin.
