I'd like to copy a track - it's bass guitar - from one song to another, including the underlying layers that the finished take was comped from.
Why?
I'm trying to make up a Studio One Song for a friend of mine to be able to work on. He wrote the song but I played most of the instruments. The ultimate aim is for him to replay his guitar and vocal parts and send them back to me. That goal could be accomplished in several straightforward ways, exporting stems being the most obvious.
But there's a secondary goal. He's a novice. I have been preparing a Song file that has any virtual instruments rendered as audio and uses only a few stock effects so he doesn't need any of my added plugins. He can use that song file to play around with the software without having to start a song from scratch. But now I think I'd like him to be able to experiment with comping a track from layers before he does it "for real" with say, his vocal. But I bounced the Bass track to a new single event. I'd love to be able to copy the whole track, with layers, from my original version of the song into his "practice" version.
Likewise, when he's done with his guitar(s) and vocals, I'd love to have a way to import his multiple-take tracks.
Is this possible? Preferably without rooting around for each audio file.
