Is Anybody Concerned About What's Going On With Native Instruments?

You wouldn't ever offend John. I think some good commentary came your way in NI is not technically in trouble, even if they were, you'd have years of usage from your investment. From others here, you got a tremendous account of rebounding with health. (I too, so make that two accounts). Others have reinforced a non issue. The industry isn't going to fold, although bloggers who seem to know more about being a CEO in their bedroom, than real life management will have their say to rack up click bait (what a life, huh?).

Don't mind me, nothing was ill intended. I think you can go forward knowing that. Also, no matter what health issues you have, there is no substitute for preventative medicine. Every day..... eating organic foods, celery juice, heavy metal detox smoothies, etc. Laugh if you will, but I've seen countless results and testimonies. You can and will heal more than you can imagine.
I'm too much of a meat lover but thanks for the tips
:)

Mouth Declick? Sounds like something I could've used a few projects ago.

Hey. Just dust off the old 4 track. Problem solved. People our age, Im 73, most certainly can make recordings without any software.

Im seriously considering pulling out my Yamaha 01v and MD 8. There’s my studio setup from late 90’s. It’s still digital but no computer required.

My body is worn out a bit. Needed new ball joints on both legs and my right shoulder. One more to go. I can’t hold on to guitar picks for very long! So Im learning how to play with my fingers instead. Not going to the gym, going to get my drum kit set up.

To the OP…

I think your N/I, Izotope & P.A. plugins should keep working pretty much indefinitely, it would be more likely your computer/O.S. may cause concerns into the future.

Just yesterday I downloaded and installed a N/I plugin, I was having problems getting the purchase authorised by their website and I thought it might be something to do with their current financial crisis. Anyway I sent a support note and got prompt helpful replies, as if everything was normal, and the problem was overcome. As an aside, it was a 99 euro plugin but I had a N/I voucher for 99 euros, this was courtesy of my purchase of the Kontakt 8 upgrade, which was only 50 euros, so the purchase price was zero anyhow…!!

Nice to see responses from other ‘golden oldies’ in this thread, I shall be joining the septuagenarian club myself in a few weeks. Been using S1 since v1 and have been saying to ‘she who must be obeyed’ that this will be the last time I upgrade for the last three upgrades (financial pressures being retired etc) but I got v8 free because it was within a year of the v7 upgrade and even though I still had a few months left of the year’s free upgrade period, I thought it best to strike whilst the iron was hot given the current jitters in the music industry - but v8 will be the last (promise dear…!!)

He said. 🤪

Still a sexagenarian here, but just retired.

I'm in a holding pattern with v7 (happily), but waiting to see what Fender/Hamburg is made of.

The ironic thing is that NI seems to be getting it together. Plugins are finally able to be shown on 4K screens, a new version of Absynth, Maschine is being updated with basic stuff that people have been asking for years for (still a long way to go however), bugs are being fixed, there's talk about opening up proprietary functionality. Not much going on at the hardware front however.

It appears they are back in the hands of the developers rather than under control of the sales and marketeers who know nothing.

Clearly they are slowly getting back on track, but sadly it could be too little and too late.

I remain optimistic about NI. The company is worth a hell of a lot more as a functioning entity (which it very much still is) than it is as a collection of assets. The ownership may change, and it's probable that some of the acquired companies may be divested, but I think the core business is sound and will survive.

I'm optimistic. No big buy-buy-buy push that I've seen. So far

All of these enhancements and new offering were on offer (or in the pipeline) months/years before this recent news broke. If history is a teacher - NI will survive - but they will come out the other side of this - smaller, tighter and more focused than ever before.

And if I were were a betting man - the 4 areas will be (in this order) Kontakt, Maschine, Traktor and Komplete. Komplete will change for certain and products will drop. The main issue with NI as I see it is over the last 5 years for certain while the debt was piling up privately and quietly out of site - the company kept trying the plug the holes by releasing more and more mediocre software to the point where now - their catalog is simply unmanageable.

Anyone who tried to get any decent support over there- when they need it - can easily see the "cost" of all this pointless expansion. They have too much stuff, not enough staff to service it and definitely not enough forward motion in any one specific area of "stuff" and on and on.

It is a vicious circle that usually ends like it did with the news in January.

If these guys do not get their debt and cash flow under control - there will not be an NI the next time nasty financial news drops. Over in Germany - with their laws - this "preliminary insolvency" filing is really a one shot deal. You won't be able to lean on this next time - it will simply be over.

Hope they figure this out - fast and get things back on track.

VP
