Note: this only applies to Studiolive SE users updating to Fender Studio Pro version 8/8.1.
The supplied notes below should help speed up getting DAW mode back.
I've been assisting my friend who has an M4 Mac Studio with a new Studiolive 16 SE MkIII. As he updated from S1 Pro v7.2.3 to Studio Pro 8 v1, the uodate to the program was succesful. However, the Studiolive mixer had immediately lost DAW mode, and even audio playback. This is due to the loss of UCNET connection. After creating a ticket with Fender/Presonus Support, I was told by support that the loss of DAW mode is common with updating to version 8. Weather that is ver. 8, or ver 8.1, I don't know.
Ok, so I was given instructions on how to get back DAW mode capability, but there are a few potential snags in those instructions. For example, after reconnecting UCNET to the router, I was instructed to add another instance of Studio Pro from the dropdown menu on the Studiolive mixer when UCNET button is depressed (illuminated). Only there was no such Studio One or Studio Pro selection from the dropdown menu. I believe the dropdown options were:
None
Pro Tools
Logic.
So Studiolive users may likely encounter this upon updating to Studio Pro 8 as well.
Generally, the fix is when there is no Studio One selection from the dropdown, go to the [Recall] settings on the mixer and enter any previous song that included DAW mode with Studio One. Recall and save.
Only there's more. My notes below break this down easily for Studiolive users to not have to wait. Though creating a ticket is always advised, no matter. I also shared the notes below with tech support as there is a sequence to follow to ensure the mixer gets properly back on line.
Hoping this both helps and most importantly saves time.

I resolved the issue with getting the Studiolive SE working. As you noted, this required recalling UCNET on the mixer, then bringing up a Studio One instance from that drop-down menu.
In my case, there was a specific set of sequences which enabled this to work that I'd like to share in case others with a Studiolive SE experience the same loss of DAW Mode, upon updating to Fender Studio Pro 8/8.1, etc.
My Notes
To re activate DAW mode:
● Turn off router, wait one minute, and restart.
● With Studiolive mixer and computer turned on, upon selecting [UCNET] mode on the studiolive mixer, when viewing the dropdown, there may not be a selection for a Studio Pro instance. Even when Studio Pro is running and a song is opened.
If so, use the [Recall] button to bring up a previous scene and select to recall that as a instance. This may require a restart from the studiolive mixer. It is also a good idea to disconnect both the USB (from computer), and CAT5 (from router or computer) to purge any bottleneck of data, there. Reconnect CAT5 and USB connection.
● Restart both mixer and computer.
At this point, you may have DAW Mode functionality, scribble strips, and levels activity working, but still no sound coming back from the mixer. If so....
● Open Universal Control, and verify the Studiolive SE 16 (or specific mixer you have) is selected. In my case, this setting went from Studiolive SE 16, back to the MAC Studio soundcard, and therefore no sound came through.
Reset to your exact mixers' type (delete any duplicated mixer selections). Playback, and DAW Mode will now function properly with Fender Studio Pro 8/8.1.
