How to recreate this FL Studio volume "duck/gate" groove automation in Studio One?

Hi everyone,

I have a video showing a specific technique done in FL Studio, and I
want to recreate the exact same effect in Studio One.

Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11OdkW7pWTxoFfVFVQsDm51_1Gi2tdrPe/view?usp=sharing

In the video, Volume automation is used on a loop to create a fast
rhythmic "duck/gate" groove effect. I tried the same in Studio One with
track Volume automation, but mine comes out as a slow smooth swell
instead of that punchy rhythmic chop.

Could someone please explain how to achieve this in Studio One? A quick
video example would be great if anyone's willing, but a written
explanation works too.

Attaching screenshots of my current Studio One automation for reference.

Thanks!

I do that exact kind of stuff using a trance gate like Kilohearts or T-Force Trance gate 2. Albeit more locked to the tempo. If you're looking for something less locked and more free form, then volume automation works with a jump attack and a curved decay/release, but is much more time consuming.

Seems like the automation track is build using mostly a few custom volume shapes. So the obvious solution would be creating a few separate volume clip shapes first and then copy and paste them at the desired position in the audio clip. Edit: Might be worth a try selecting/copying the empty audio clip (and not the automation points). Also make sure that "no overlap when editing events" is unchecked in the wrench settings.

Looks a bit finicky in both Daws. Adjusting the snap settings in SP might be helpful. (For more regular patterns use "X-Trem".)

I don't understand why yours "comes out as a slow smooth swell instead of that punchy rhythmic chop". Volume automation is volume automation.
