How to limit incoming midi velocity

Hi all,

How do I limit incoming midi velocity so that no matter how hard or how soft I play, I'm always within a pre-determined velocity range? I know the NOTE FX plugin called 'input filter' but to me I can't see the purpose of it... Yes it limits your velocity range but instead of compressing it just excludes all notes outside the range which still leaves me in a situation where I have to be VERY precise when playing.
I'm looking for a way where I can hammer away and never jump outside the softest layers. Thanks in advance.

Check out the following VST plugin for controlling and modifying the velocity value of incoming MIDI notes...

Veloscaler

On Mac, MidiPipe is usually the weapon of choice.

I think just about all midi controllers have a setting for the sensitivity of velocity. Both my Roland A49 and my Yamaha digital drums have this.
I like to change my controller to a flat 64 for playing organ.

I have the a88mk2 Roland and while there are ways to control velocity curves there doesn't seem to be a way to do fixed velocity but I'll definitely look into that.

Page 13 of the owners manual. It works exactly like mine.
Function button Look for Key Velocity
You can choose a fixed velocity between 1- 127.

Thank you John, really appreciate you looking that up for me... The a88 is a recent purchase.

That being said it would not be useful when applied to multi-instruments where each instrument needs a different velocity input and I'd have to constantly fiddle with velocity settings on my keyboard when switching between instruments instead of having the setting locked to the instrument tracks.
I will add this to the feature request list.
