How long before we see the new advanced integration between Komplete Kontrol S mk3 and Studio One?

Just a reminder for those of you who own a Kontrol S mk3.

Hopefully, it'll be available soon.

Thanks for pointing that out. Finally, NI is taking advantage of the onboard Kontrol S-series mkIII CPU. I've been following the painfully long mkIII ramp-up travails. What's interesting is that even as so many people have expressed disappointment with the limited feature set NI has been promising to advance, and complaining about stuff like the nonexistent sliders and pads, meanwhile, almost every time I watch a YouTube video of someone who's clearly earning a good living though music, they're invariably using S series mkIII controller keyboards anyway. From our S1 perspective, you can clearly see they don't see us as a Tier One DAW that gets the first implementations. Hopefully this firmware corrects all that and greatly enhances the value of the pricey Komplete Kontrol keyboard controller line for us as well.

The release of the MK3 feels like NI got the signal that 'if they didn't release the MK3 soon, they'd take a serious hit from competitors' or something similar. I think all the subsequent updates should have been ready to roll out at launch. It seems like NI just wanted to position themselves in the product ecosystem first, and then have developers slowly play catch-up on things that should have been done right from the start, at a slower pace.😅😅

Not sure the glacial development process was intentional; if it was, then they should have suspected so many people would be up in arms about the decisions they made (no MPC control etc. and releasing with a fractional feature set) which not only turned off the existent user base, but put potential new customers like us off. The fact remains that as awful as the mkIII rollout seems to have been handled, mkIII boards make a whole lot of appearances in YouTube videos made by people who, if they're not actually very successful in the industry, do a great job of appearing that they are :) So the knobs and keybeds at least must be first-rate.

I know there are a few members here who post frequently who haven't moved off their KK S series mkII controllers—and they don't even seem remotely tempted to do so :)

Me, I know S series mkII is capable and all, I just don't quite like the look and feel of the object itself; I kinda prefer the Arturia mkII in that area. I do applaud NI for having by far the best screen(s) of any controller; the Arturia really frustrates me there.

Workstations and keyboard controllers are in some sort of stagnant land; too many different types of buyers to please, no matter what they do, many people want the opposite.

Like me!

Full disclosure - I have a sealed S61 MKIII in the store room but until NI decides to do something (anything) with the pitifully kneecapped Komplete Kontrol v3 - compared to the feature packed and infinitely stable KK v2.9.6 - there is simply no reason (or need) whatsoever to change.

These new S-SERIES MKIII firmware updates are a sign of good things to come - but they alone do not define my need for a MKIII as a daily driver (yet).

If/when NI actually puts this all together (as it should have been from the start) and really starts to take advantage of the hardware (and KK software) - then and only then would I consider a move. That will be about 4 firmware updates from now...

But how do you really feel? :)

That's a unique form of protest, keeping it unsealed in a closet until the NIverse becomes a better and brighter place. :) Gotta hand it to ya!

Well I never used to take this tact but after hanging out in the NI forums for several years and taking a few very well put “resolutions” from some talented creators I follow - I just decided to ensure my workflow is productive and fun by not upgrading for the sake of upgrading.

That new board will be there when I am ready but I purposely left it sealed just in case I need to offload it at some point.

NI knows what they need to do - I am just one of many voices that are tired of the promises and lack of movement on some of this stuff.

Until some miracle occurs - this S61MKII is barely broken in - and it continues to allow me to create with ease.

I like MK2,too. But I find the KK VST to be much more crash-prone than the KT VST, especially after the KT8 update, which has made loading much faster than the KK. Also, my MK2 was already experiencing severe screen burn-in, so I made the switch to the MK3.

But according to NI, it'll be a few months before the MK3 is truly usable.

For some reason, not immediately obvious, Studio One has been removed from the ‘coming soon’ list on the latest update of that page. We’ve discussed it in another thread, but given that the implementation requires some work on the part of PreSonus, it’s possible that they (PS) don’t see this as a priority and have shunted it to the right in order to concentrate on other issues.
