Help

When I purchased Studio One and then upgraded to Studio Pro 8, I didn't think I would be using midi tracks at all, but low and behold now I have a small use for a midi track. I may never need midi again, but I can't figure out how to install the ones that come with the application. I don't have a lot of memory, but I do have external drive space. But right now, all I need is to install some guitar patches. Can someone help me, or will I have to uninstall and re-install. Would rather not do that.
I have alternative ways to achieve my goal, but I need to learn this for future projects also.
Any help is much appreciated.
PS - I may want to use midi drums in the future also.

Hi Wally, Welcome to the forum!
Not having a lot of memory is never a good place to be when using or updating a DAW. Even with an external drive. There's just a lot of swap file processing and available space needed on your C drive.

Really look to optimize you're computer. Remive on your C drive what isn't necessary, or swap the drive out for a larger one. There are plenty of videos that you'll find than detailing that here. Its simply the right path to not have a maxed out drive with a DAW (and generally following good practices).

You can always install the sound libraries, in this case the drum libraries bundled with Studio One.... ehr..... Pro. Note: audio tracks are going to be far more of a hit on your RAM space than MIDI.

Please also include your specs in your signature so we know what audio interface, computer platform, and general specs you have.

The subject titled "Help" is also not revealing to your issue. Might want to edit that as well. Something like "Configuring my PC/Mac to Studio Pro 8, with little room for MIDI" would be helpful.
Thanks.

Which guitar patches/instruments are you referring to exactly? You can install all the Sound Sets included with Studio Pro in the Installation window (Studio Pro → Studio Pro Installation). For example, the Presence XT Core Library includes playable instruments (→ MIDI), and there are two guitar packages. Both are between 1 and 2 GB. If you already have a bottleneck with your disk space, you should address that, as you’ll need more free capacity. You can also use external storage by adding an external path in the options under Locations → Sound Sets. If you’re referring to memory as RAM, the RAM usage of these Presence instruments is very moderate, since the samples are partly streamed from disk.

I agree with both points.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help. I actually, for the project I'm working on, decided to just record audio snippets for my current project, but I will certainly be needing to be able to use midi sounds for other projects at some point so I will need to do some sort of updating my computer or just getting a new one. It is indeed overdue now that I'm creating much more musical processes.
I think that you are saying, I can install midi sounds on an external drive, I have that! 667GB Free Space

My 8GB Memory is maxed out, I need to upgrade soon.
