Help with CWP2song

Ok i just spent 2 hours on this.....
I give up
Yes it’s not easy. I spent 3 or four days!

I will now make a Tutorial so don’t panic.

The key is being precise in what you enter.

Read @OutrageProductions post #16 closely.
Or wait until I finish the video.
By the way, Im now BassGuitar on that other forum. They banned me again as John.

thanks outrage..
i thought i was doing that
but there seems to be so many variables in the
syntax..i know for someone who understands MS DOS its easy but for others ..not so much
e.g you say enter copy path to location and enter at second dialog
however the second dialog contains two lines..where do i enter ?first line? both lines?
its just confusing to me..
anyway hopefully the tutorial john creates will make things easier..
however i thankyou for your contributions
respect

Maybe read post #16 first, (make the batch file) and change the path in the third line of the batch file to where you saved the cwp2song executable (as described in post #2).
If you do that, then the data that you need to input is copy & paste, eliminating typing errors.

I would have made a screen video of the procedure, but have transferred all my files and removed CW from my computers.

And yeah... I started writing machine code before DOS 3.1 even existed.

thanks for that..
im not a computer dummy
but MS DOS brings me to my knees..
ill have another go

Thanks for that John..
did get tit to work but
even a simple file with a folder and some vst instryuments
are very complicated to decipher once in Studio one...
So far all the buses setup in cake come over as tracks in S1
still wading my way thru but might end up leaving them in Cake

I don’t use folders or take lanes so possibly this is why so far the projects are porting over identical. If you look at the end where I showed the project you can see the buses are all buses. Also I was surprised that the You Lean meter shows the exact same reading as in Sonar. That was impressive. That implies that all the effects and signal flow are correct.

Thank you @John Vere for starting this thread. Until I peeked in here and your other thread, I had no idea such an app existed that would convert cwp files to .song files.

Took me a couple hours last night to get the command correct considering I haven't been in DOS since high school. Got it running and today I converted over 100 songs. I only opened up a few of the projects as a quick QC, but will revisit all of them in due time of course. The projects were already pretty bare boned, so once I inspect more closely I may need to swap out some plugins and make some tweaks.

Thank you @AZSlow3 for creating this app. Also, thank you @OutrageProductions for taking the time to give expert advice.

@hieroglyph - Thanks for sharing. Yes once you get the correct way to enter the info then it goes smoothly.
I found it is best to rename the CWP folder and file with no spaces. So “Give me all your loven” becomes “Allyourlove”. It’s like back in the 8 bit Atari days when titles could only contain 8 letters.

Another huge benefit of this little app is you don’t even need Sonar installed on your computer anymore. I decided to delete all the Bandlab software. I kept Platinum and X3. Platinum doesn’t crash like Sonar does.
