Harmony Wizard loads (seemingly) but simply doesn't activate or work

New machine (Windows 11, fully updated FSP). After various attempts to get Harmony Wizard to work I can't recall all the steps I took but what happened most often is that I was asked to activate with email and the Code, which I did, and got a screen which said HW was activated. I would then get a new box which said there was a problem activating. Interestingly, in FSP the Wizard toolbar is there but none of the tools do anything., nor do the extra options show up by right clicking on midi notes.

So I tried again, this time using the license file that I copied over from the old machine (perhaps that was a mistake ), and anticipating so I redownloaded HW and again tried to activate. Same problem (and I did not get a new license file to use).

If I've missed something thanks in advance for advice. If instead it would be best to try completely uninstalling HW (including registry if advisable), I am not certain how to initiate a full uninstall and don't want to guess. Again, thanks in advance.

So you have correctly installed the add-on but activation in FSP fails.

That means the macro toolbar is there ( = the product is installed) but activation failed so the actual content of the add-on (the scripts) isn't working.

Yes, this was a mistake. The license is tied to one system so it will be invalid on another system. That's how copy protection works.

Re-installing HW won't change anything about that. It's the activation that went wrong.

When activation fails, the solution is usually Studio Pro → Activate Purchased Items. If it's correctly activated, the dialog should list Harmony Wizard as the activated products.

Otherwise, it should ask you to activate it again.

Thanks for responding. I believe I got both the first screenshot saying HW was activated, and definitely got the second one; when I click on HW and "Activate", that's when I first was asked to use email and the Code/SN (whichever it's called). I got confirmation HW was activated, but it simply doesn't work (again, the toolbar is present).

Next time I'm in the studio I'll follow the video and let you know what happens. Again, thanks for helping (Harmony Wizard is an amazing tool).

Yes, technically the toolbar is not part of Harmony Wizard, it's just a macro toolbar with buttons that link to the Harmony Wizard commands (which won't work if HW isn't activated).

If it said it's correctly activated but still doesn't work, another way to reset the activation and try again: Choose Help → Open Settings Folder, then go into the License Store folder and delete lruschitzka.harmonywizard.license. Then restart FSP and you should see the activation dialog again.

Again, the lruschitzka.harmonywizard.license file is created using your computer ID and several other unique data, so it won't work on another computer.

When I dragged the install file onto FSP it said HW is already installed. I removed the license file as instructed and nothing changed. I then tried removing the HW file from the Extensions folder, re-dragged the install folder onto FSP and got the dialog box shown in the video. I restarted FSP but did not get the Activate screen. From the Open-->Settings menus I tried activating, was told it was activated (dark screen with blue text) but then got the box saying it could not be activated. I then tried uninstalling and re-installing and got to the same place. I then downloaded the license file again (since there wasn't one in the License Folder even after reinstalling), but no change. What did happen is that the 6 Fat Channel plugins that I don't own but which demanded activation at one point, now again demand activation (which I can't do because I don't own them nut they were part of the Fat Channel extra package at one point ).

I appreciate this might be as frustrating for you as for me, and very much appreciate your continued help.

@SteveMac, I have the feeling that you’re confusing installation with activation. What Lucas said was:

However, you then said that you still tried reinstalling the addon:

Lucas had clearly explained that there was no need to reinstall it, and that reinstalling it would neither change nor improve anything, since the problem was with the activation.

So again, you appear to have ignored what Lucas said.

Again, why do you keep trying to reinstall it when the actual problem is the FSP activation?

Sorry, but I have the feeling that you’re not following the instructions. It might be different on Windows (but according to the video it´s not), but I recently installed Harmony Wizard on my new Mac, and all I had to do was enter my email address and license key. After restarting FSP, everything worked perfectly.

It's true that the installation itself wouldn't create a license file. Activation does.

I wonder whether something about the way Studio One Pro is activated is a bit off on your system. Did you switch from the subscription to a perpetual license? This would explain why the Fat Channel plug-ins are demanding activation even though you don't own them.

The Fat Channel thing is probably a red herring. Like many folks I own some but not all of the Fat Channel plugins but you can't just install those ones. You have to install the full pack of about 15(ish). So every time I choose "Activate Purchased Items" it tries and fails to activate 10 Fat Channel plugins that I don't own. It's a bit irritating but I typically only it when activating something new.

@SteveMac , what happens if you go "Studio Pro -> Activate Purchased Items" ?
