Half the Atom SQ A-H bank buttons are not working with Impact

Running 8.0.2/Windows 11.

STEPS TO REPRO.

1) New Fender Pro project
2) Add an instrument track, SQ as input and Impact synth as the output. Monitor it.
3) This can be reproduced with all the presets I tested, but lets go for Atom Fuel Presets -> Square Up 110.
4) Bring up Impact window.
5) With your mouse click on the individual banks A to H and see banks change accordingly, and they will.
6) I've got Atom SQ set in Song mode (this doesn't really matter).
7) Now on the Atom SQ, press Bank buttons A to H on the left.

RESULT:
I find only A,C,E,G Atom SQ buttons work (with Impact) and B,D,F,H does not.

(BTW if you play a note on the SQ, it will automatically change to any banks where the note lives, that functionality works absolutely fine).


Can anybody reproduce please?

Confirmed. However, the layout of the Atom SQ is so that pressing either A or B will lay the samples of those two layers onto the pads of the Atom SQ. The plugin display window does NOT display the 'even' banks (B, D, F, H), but the odd bank preceding it. (So pressing B will layout banks A and B on the Atom SQ but show bank A on the plugin window.)

Thanks, I read what you say here but I'm not understanding at all unfortunately. Are you saying this is likely by design?

I notice if I go to preset Atomic Fuel Presets -> 09 Slidin' In Kit 126.
The Atom SQ SQ will now show 4 blue pads on the top row (right), press one of those pads and we are taken to bank B.

Now I get the opposite with the bank buttons.

I find only B,D,F,H Atom SQ buttons work (with Impact) and A,C,E,G does not.

Just pasting this for reference from the manual in case it's useful:

Impact XT. While controlling an instance of Impact XT, the pads on your ATOM
SQ will match the corresponding color of each pad in Impact XT. These colors
can be changed from within Impact XT. Impact XT as 8 banks of 16 pads.
Because ATOM SQ features two 16-pad banks, it will display two Impact XT
banks simultaneously for quick access to multiple banks: A/B, C/D, E/F, and G/H.
Banks can be changed using the A-H bank buttons. When triggering a sound in
Impact XT, the pad on your ATOM SQ will change to white while being pressed.

I do think it's an inconsistency in the UI, so you could log it with a ticket..

I feel this is probably "by design", but I don't see the inconsistency that you seem to be referring to.
For me it is simply that choosing any bank button on the ATOM SQ has the visual effect in the plugin window of always only displaying the first of whatever bank pair that button is associated with. Then the display change to the second bank is only caused by a pad press on the SQ (or its individual bank button press in the plugin window).

I do imagine they designed it that way. I would call it a design oversight more than a bug.
Could certainly be improved upon, but I doubt it would be a priority.

I genuinely don't understand, maybe I'm being thick.
I have bank A to H buttons on the SQ, if I press a bank button I expect to be taken there whatever scenario.
Also this isn't a "visual effect", I expect to be able to see what sounds I have available on that bank. Press the bank button, there is that bank, easy!

And then as explained later, in some cases only A,C,E,G works, and in other cases only B, D, F, H, depending on what note button I pressed last.
It does not make any logical sense to me that this would be by design.

As far as priority, that's up to Fender. For me it's an annoying issue, and if they want to shift these new "Fender Motion" controllers out of the door, this is stuff they should take this seriously, Atom SQ has been out for a long time without fixes (yes they've fixed some stuff). Reason why I originally abandoned the Atom was the workflow kept freezing up and I just gave in, and Presonus at the time didn't seem that interested in fixing stuff. The good news is a lot has improved, however I'm certainly not going to upgrade my controllers if basic stuff with controllers doesn't get fixed.
