GuitarPro -- Playback via Studio One Pro 7

FenderDude

Hello
I am using LoopMidi to play a GuitarPro file one an instrument track in Studio One Pro 7 on Windows 11. I wrote the file in Guitar Pro, then play it from wtihin Guitar Pro, and I hear it within Studio One.

What I am trying to do is initiate playback via the Studio One Transport play button. I have several other tracks in Studio One, and I want to hit play in Studio One, and it will play the Guitar Pro file. I have tried syncing to external devices. I have tried to send the midi clock info from Studio One.

However, i cannot figure out how to start the playback of the Guitar Pro file from hitting play on STudio one. Has anyone figured this out? Thanks

Welcome to the forum, FenderDude, I'm not familiar with guitar pro, but from their setup guide, it lists....

GP8 - Connect a MIDI device to Guitar Pro

Steps:

  • Connect your MIDI device to your computer.
  • Open Guitar Pro 8
  • Go to the File > Preferences > Audio / MIDI menu (Windows)
  • Go to the Guitar Pro 8 > Preferences > Audio / MIDI menu (macOS)
  • Select your MIDI device (see pic below)
  • You can then enable the MIDI capture from the Sound menu.

Note:

If your MIDI device is not listed, unplug and replug it to your computer.

Please note the MIDI capture in Guitar Pro 8 is not a real time capture.

It would also be helpful if you could furnish a screenshot of how you've installed that into Studio One. You may have to set your track output in S1 to the Guitarpro.

Also please add your specs to your signature. Thanks.

Hello
Thank you. I am able to play the Guitar Pro file into an instrument track in Studio One. These are my settings for GuitarPro.

The issue is that i want to press play in Studio One, not press play in Guitar Pro.

These are screenshots from my Studio One setup.

I have other tracks in my Studio One project, so i want to be able to go to different points in the project, send that clock info to GuitarPro, and have it play at the correct point in time.

Thanks again

It looks as though your Send To, and Recieve From are set properly.
Have you set the monitor [blue button) on the track to ON? I think that's all that remains. GuitarPro should slave to Studio One when setting Studio One's transport to play at that point.

So you hear Audio out of the S1 track when selecting Play from GuitarPro's transport? Or is GuitarPro sounding on its own, outside S1? Unfortunately, I know little about that VSTi, but am looking now how it handles Audio.

Hi
Yes I have the monitor button on. When I press play in guitar pro, the guitar pro file starts and I hear the audio from an instrument track in S1. However, I do not hear the other tracks.
If I press play in S1, i hear all the other tracks except the instrument track that is linked to guitar pro.
I want to press play in S1 and it will play the tracks and start the guitar pro file at the exact same time.
Thank you again

Yeah, it seems the need to have GuitarPro slave is the culprit. If your output in your track shows sending to the GuitarPro, then your setup should be ok. Is your Guitar Pro setup config set to receiving MIDI. particularly from Studio One?

Completely understood. I think you should open a ticket with Presonus support.

Even when I dont have the same softsynth or MIDI instrument, I can piece together what the product brings and solve an issue.
Stay on the path of selecting Play with S1, verIfy no MIDI filtering is turned on, and contact support. Wish I had more.
