{FR} Instruments sidebar (console)

OutrageProductions

Does anyone know if the <Instruments> sidebar is expandable so that the list of multi-outputs can be read fully? There isn't any handle that I can find.

Or do I need to find a way to shorten the name of the outputs on an instrument so that it fits better?

The instrument rack is not resizable. It's worth a feature (improvement) request.

The same output routing is available in the instrument window (click on the yellow arrow to show the second toolbar), however, it also cuts the output names. At least you can see the target channel.

Other than that, the names of the outputs are chosen by the instrument. In Kontakt, you can name the outputs and set these as a default.

I may think about this. It's not generally mission critical except when I have drum/percussion kits that are broken out to multiple outputs for channels.

I'm not sure what "yellow arrow" that you are referring to, but I found that the <port setup> context menu on each instance of a VSTi GUI has a bit better view, that can also shut off channels/outputs that are not used (for session cleanup).

Unless I have never done this correctly, the name of the driver seems to report the name to Windows, and editing (especially in Komplete Kontrol / Kontakt) doesn't seem to do anything to shorten the first part of the output report.
I found that UVI does similar things.

I've posted a feature request at Fender if anyone would like to weigh in:

In FSP, there's a yellow arrow that you need to click for this menu to appear - and you didn't mention which version you're using.

The names of the instrument outputs are not related to Windows or drivers.

And editing, especially in Komplete Kontrol/Kontakt, doesn't seem to do anything to shorten the first part of the output report.
Yes - the change will only apply once you load the instrument again. Reloading the session won't be enough.
