I looked through the rules and didn't see anything that said you can't do cover songs so I decided to post this as it is now legal without a license so long as you don't make $$$$$ from it.

Cover of a Beatles song from their Revolver album (1966). Stayed true to the melody, lyrics and basic chord structure but where they used a French horn I used a soprano sax solo. I also added vocal harmony and a string ensemble. I always thought if you are going to cover a song somebody else wrote you should do something in the arrangement to "make it your own". Hope you enjoy it.

This song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney- C 1966

Really enjoyed this! You can never go wrong with a Beatles tune. Sounded great adding the harmony vox and strings. Everything had clarity in the mix. Great job!

You avoided the biggest problem with cover songs - not making it your own! I beleive that a good song lends itself to be being interpreted in a variety of ways, and your version proves that.

Very nice mix!
What did you use for organ?
I'm looking for a C3 type plugin. (Deep Purple, Procol Harum)
Thanks! Sorry I wasn't clear about the organ. It's actually the Session Organ expansion pack for EZ Keys 2 which only seems to cover the Hammond B3 but the only difference between the (actual) B3 and the C3 is the cabinetry. B3 being the "combo" and C3 being the "Church". The guts are essentially the same. Native Instruments has a package (which I also have) called Vintage Organs which includes the Hammonds B3 and C3 and also the vintage Farfisa and Vox Continental combo organs popularized by 60s bands like the Doors and the Dave Clark Five. The sounds on all are great but personally I think the Toontrack package is easier to work with MIDI wise.

Also thanks to Axeman and Craig Anderton ;)

Nice work! I like the mix and the clarity of the vocal.

ok thanks,
I was recently reading about Procol Harum and have long admired Matthew Fisher's sound and found that both he and Jon Lord used C3s so thought there was something special about them. I'll check out NI's Vintage Organs.
Thank's again!

I really like your version John. The unexpected (to me) sax worked very well. Great mix and overall production too.
(btw I'm bjornpdx from the CW forum. I use both DAWs)

Thanks bjorn. Glad you like it. Great to hear from you again. You're one of the very few people I miss from the (mostly) scum over there.
