Fender Studio Pro 8.2 - Discussion Thread

So…every other instrument reporting problems is also wrong?

Gotcha

Added: it would seem to this non-computer literate user that the key to making any software successful is to make it compatible with the majority of already established supporting apps, not re-write things to cutting edge standards and expect the rest of the world to catch up.

Not a good look, but thats just an opinion, but I’ll say this: if the latest version of StudioPro doesn’t work with what I already own, I’m not going to use it. Not my job to tell Toontrack or anyone else to upgrade their products - thats between Fender and Toontrack

Ken, I think the best thing we can all do is report any issues back to Fender Support and wait and see what they say and do. Obviously there are issues with 8.2 and the more info the devs get, the better. If it is in fact a problem with a plugin that uses an out-of-date SDK, I'm sure they'll say so if they get enough reports that they can verify. If, OTOH, it's a problem with Studio Pro, they need to know so that it can be addressed.

Every complex software program has issues to some extent; it's what the devs do about those issues when they're identified that's important. If you have the option to backdate to an earlier version that's more stable for you, do that - you can run it alongside 8.2.x to confirm that the issues have been fixed before you commit to 8.2.x again.

TimC340,

I did so earlier today, thanks.

What I frankly did not appreciate was the automatic assumption (real or perceived) that whatever was causing the issues I *was* having is somehow the fault of my system, my computer, my whatever - when there are pages of similar issues already being discussed here. Yes, I have an older system...No, I have no idea what an SDK is or does, nor should I need to: Im a musician/engineer, not a computer programmer.

I say *was* because I keep older versions of all DAW on my internal hard drive to allow rolling back to previous working versions should it become necessary - which in this case, it became necessary. SP 8.1 works beautifully, with nary a hiccup much less any unexplained crashes.

It's a fact that some of us here are more computer-savvy than others, for sure! And sometimes that can lead to some resentment on either side when explanations aren't clear or understood. But everyone here, in my experience, is trying to be helpful - even if they don't always succeed!
