Custom Plugin Display Names

Hello first post here. I've just purchased Fender Studio Pro and I'm loving it so far. One thing that I miss from my other DAWs is the ability to have custom plugin display names. I'm not talking about renaming a plugin after it's loaded but having a custom display name before it's loaded.

So in the example below from another DAW "BT Brickwall BW2S-3" would display as simply BW2S-3 as shown in the Alias column:

I have plugins with much longer names and I find shorter names more efficient in use. Does anyone know if this is possible in version 8? Thanks in advance for any help. In this case system specifications are unnecessary since the subject is a feature not a function......:)

You can rename a plugin after loading and then save it as default preset.
The plugin won't show up by that name in Search, but it will show up with the custom name in the insert slot after loading.
I did that with pretty much all plugins with long names.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Renaming plug-ins is a pretty old feature request (development calls these "old hats"). Unfortunately, it's not possible in FSP yet. But I can absolutely see that this would be helpful.
Thanks! Is there a formal channel for feature requests although as you say this one has already been made quite some time ago. Is the development team generally responsive to requests?

Thanks! I'll give it a try layer today. That should be sufficient as long as the plugins load with the custom name.

Yes, in the start page of the forum there's a link "Studio Pro Feature Requests".

Is the development team generally responsive to requests?
Generally yes - but the priority of each feature depends on the number of votes the request has on the voting platform, and of course, a lot of other aspects.

Ok thanks I'll add my name to the list. I did what FMN-Music suggested and it does work well for FX plugins (Lindell 50 Channel became just L50 Channel which fits well) but sadly not so much for instrument plugins. I renamed DUNE 3 to just DUNE and VPS Avenger to just Avenger and while those names do show in the instrument list they do not show in the mixer strip or in the arranger. But it's FX plugins that normally have the really long names so being able to shorten them is a great thing so thanks for the tip. Of course I can just manually rename everything but having to do so over and over is what I call "housework" and that tends to be a workflow killer for me.:)
