I like the amps and cabs in the Fender amp sim. However, there are some combinations that seem harsher than others, especially if you turn up the gain and treble. This is most apparent if you don't use the compressor. For example, load the 1x12 BB15 cab with the '65 Twin Reverb, then turn up the Gain and Treble to 7. Try inserting a Pro EQ with the following settings before the amp (not after), and see if you like the sound better. I find it less harsh, but let me know what you think. This same curve also works with some other amp/cab combinations.
Also, don't sleep on being able to have no cab and just the amp! It's ideal for when you want to use the Pro EQ to create filter-based cabs that you can't obtain with conventional impulses.
