Solved Can't switch audio device in Studio One 7

Suddenly, Studio One (7.2.2) won’t let me switch audio outputs — it’s “stuck” on one particular device (MOTU M4). If I select another device, it appears to be selected in the Song Setup menu, but S1 continues to play audio through the M4. Doesn’t matter what’s selected for system audio output.

Also seems to be related: Sonarworks SoundID Systemwide doesn’t recognize Studio One — S1 audio doesn’t pass through SoundID. Same goes for Rogue Amoeba SoundSource (another systemwide app) — it “sees” that Studio One is running, but S1’s audio doesn’t get processed. (And I've tried running S1 with both those apps not running, just to eliminate them from the audio switching issue in S1.)

All other apps (DAWs, audio players, etc.) work fine re: the above.

Mac Studio M1, MacOS 15.7.1, and all software is up to date.

I’ll be in touch with Presonus, but wanted to check here first — anybody ever run into this?

EDIT: Things I’ve tried: trashed StudioOne.settings file, reinstalled Studio One, restarted Mac, reinstalled MOTU audio drivers — no difference.

Were you able get this issue resolved after submitting a support ticket?

Trucky -- yes, Presonus tech support solved the issue. The rep asked if I had an aggregate audio device active -- I hadn't consciously set one up, but I had been experimenting with Rogue Amoeba's Loopback, which set up an aggregate device (including the MOTU M4) behind the scenes. This device had locked on to the M4, and that's why I couldn't change the output in S1. All good now!

Glad to hear they were able to solve this for you and thanks for reporting back!
