Can't assign MPK Mini knob to Zebra Ctrl A CC

Hi all,

Probably being a complete numpteh but I'm finding it impossible to map any knobs on my MPK Mini controller to the Ctrl A CC in ZebraHZ (which I think is CC 2).

I've configured a knob to send CC 2 data using the MPK Mini editor, and this data comes through fine in to Studio One and I can see the values change in the Studio One External Devices panel on CC 2.

But there's no effect on the sound in Zebra when I twiddle the knob so I guess I need to assign the control to CC 2.... which I'm finding impossible as:

- inside Zebra I can't find a Ctrl A virtual knob to twiddle to do a MIDI Learn to make the assignment
- in the Studio One MIDI assignment editor, I don't get the option to select ZebraHZ CC2 in the left hand panel, I just get a drop down with 6 random CCs in, none of which is CC2 (see screenshot)

I've managed to assign a knob to CC 1 (mod wheel) and CC 74 simply because these options appeared in the assignment drop down.

If anyone could offer any tips, that would be super amazing!

Thanks a million,

Andrew

... and after a day of scouring the Internet and using Copilot, this is solved.

Solution: add MPK Mini as a keyboard, not a control surface. CC data gets passed straight through to the VST in this case. And, by using two tracks with the same VST instrument, it's possible to play on Keyboard A, and twiddle the knobs on the MPK Mini at the same time.

Not the most intuitive user journey imo!

Hey,

check out my MIDI controller tutorial, you've probably set up the MPK incorrectly:
