Can Fender Studio Pro scripts read score editor (notation) data or trigger the MusicXML export?

Hi all,

I'm a composer/arranger working with Fender Studio Pro and Sibelius, and I'm looking at whether the script system (JavaScript .package scripts) can help with score preparation. Two questions:

1. Can a script access the notation data of the score editor for a track (note durations, rests, voices, tuplets, ties), or only the MIDI events (start / length / pitch)?

2. Can a script run the score export (MusicXML or "Send to Notion") for selected tracks and save the result to a folder, e.g. via Host.GUI.Commands.interpretCommand?

I haven't found documentation for either. Even a pointer to the relevant objects/interfaces, or a clear "not possible", would help a lot.

Thanks!

Environment: macOS 14.8.3, Fender Studio Pro 8.2.0.114903

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Only note editor events (MIDI). The Studio Pro score editor has little to no scripting support, so there are no methods or properties available for accessing its notation data.

2. Can a script run the score export (MusicXML or "Send to Notion") for selected tracks and save the result to a folder, e.g. via Host.GUI.Commands.interpretCommand?
A script can run commands using interpretCommand and pass arguments to them (if the commands support them), but this is equivalent to clicking a button or running a command via a shortcut or macro. You can't retrieve any return values or results from the invoked commands.

I would recommend reading the .song files directly because (a) they contain all the information and (b) they are mostly XML, making them easier to parse rather than trying to access the data through Studio One/Studio Pro scripting.

I hope that helps.
