Cakewalk .INS Files

Conversion is slick... All the Banks and Voices are listed but I can't figure how to make a track switch Banks using an old Ensoniq. In Cakewalk, the Banks and Voices can be changed by selecting them in a track's input box or even a midi controller. So far all I can do in Studio One is trigger voices on whatever Bank is currently active on the Ensoniq regardless of which one I select in the Sound Variations list.

Is there any documentation on how to do this or is it a limitation?

Also, is there a way to select a different synth/keyswitch file from the menu, or do the files have to be dragged into the app each time?

There are generally two ways to insert bank changes in an instrument part: by using Sound Variations, or by inserting a bank change as part automation.
The idea behind the conversion is that you don’t have to do this manually—ideally, you only need to select the sound variations in your part.

However, according to the screenshot, the conversion seems to have worked correctly for the program numbers, but not for the bank numbers, since the bank change data is 0, 0 for every program. Unfortunately, I currently don’t have the resources to improve the conversion routine. If you like, you can send me the INS file and I can add it to my list for future improvements, but I can’t promise if or when this might happen.

What you can do for now is manually fix the bank numbers for the presets you want to use and then save this list as a new Sound Variation map for future use:

Yes - once you save the map as a new Sound Variation map, it will appear in the list you highlighted. Use this button to save a map:

Thanks for the help. I'll fool with it a bit. The saving function seems a bit weird as the dropdown list doesn't seem to jive with the actual folder/file setups. But I'm starting all over again.

I also get this each time I convert:

Sorry for so many questions, but why do deleted folders and files still show in the list? And for some reason all new folders end up inside of the UACC folder.

Because you should not manipulate these preset files outside of Studio One/Pro. If you do, click "Re-Index Presets" in the Home tab of the Browser to refresh this list.

Yes. INS files can contain banks for multiple devices/instruments - Sound Variation maps cannot. A Sound Variation maps is only for one instrument (external instrument or instrument plug-in).
