Automation Track Question

I'm trying to create a single automation track to hold the volume automation for the 7 channels that are in the Console. Every time that I do it, I end up with the last lane unlabeled and the group having the missing label and a duplicate slider. Is this how it is supposed to look?

I would like to make several trial mixes, from which to select one, but I don't see how S1 could do that, since an automation can't be assigned to more than one track. Can this be done? thx - s

Thanks OP. I'll take a look at that. And I just discovered "Incorporate Alternate Mixes in Your Workflow" on p. 135 of Craig Anderton's really huge tips and tricks book.
