Atom SQ midi in pad light

Hooked up my Atom SQ to an ipad running Cubasis. Problem is the key pads don't light up on midi in. Cubasis is set to receive and send to all midi ports. Works fine with a Novation Launchpad, but not with the Atom.

Just posting to see if anyone else has this or found a way to get it to work.

Tried it with a few different DAWs and apps and it seems the Atom only lights up the keys with midi input in Studio One. Shame. Maybe the new Fender Motion 32 will add this, or maybe not.

Not surprising. The Atom SQ while not proprietary, is really geared in so many ways around Studio One (and I'd expect Studio Pro). The pad layout, banks, and scaling lends itself to that. I'd expect Novation from its layout to be more generic anyway.

Maybe but they put quite a bit of effort into non Studio One features like native Ableton Live mode the HUI and MCU modes. But it is what it is.

Yeah I just bought cubasis for my android tablet, it's probably the best tablet DAW imho.

Thanks for telling me about "Motion 32", so we have new Atoms in disguise! Wow!

EDIT - and just researched them, they are a bit meh, I guess a refinement of what we already got, but it's just more of the same.

Maybe hopefully we can move the playhead in smaller steps using dials one day eh?

But what a pity, we need a "motion 64" with a much bigger touch sensitive screen that would compete against AKAI MPC or Maschine MK3 imho. Something like that with existing and improved Atom functionality would be a killer controller. They have such an opportunity here to take and they aren't. Oh well.

I have to say I've been playing a lot more with my SQ recently and seem to be getting on better with it. Just a pity about the playhead navigation.
