I'm trying to assign my SSL UF1 knob to a parameter but it does not assign. What could be wrong?

Ok, I manged to get it done by selecting "Plugin" on this dialog but how do I enable the control only when the synth is open so that the same knob has a different function on another synth?

Hi RedSkyRoad,
you are on the right way. If I understand you right...
You just have to activate the small,grey triangle, that is pointing to the left side
between your controller (Encoder/Fader) on the right side, and the plugin parameter you chose to control.
-In this case the FILTER of Elevate Trance2-.
Click on it and it becomes "yellow" to show you, that your controller is linked.
For further details, simply check the manual starting on page 415 - "Control Link"
