Anyone ever use the Presonus Earmix?

Used an Earmix for the first time the other week and really genuinely enjoyed it. It was the first one I had ever run across and preferred to the Hear and Furman systems I’m used to using. I’m having a bit of trouble understanding the literature but it appears as though the only way to run it properly is through a Studio live mixer of some type. Is this true? If so that’s rather disappointing. Seems like a nice piece of equipment

Yeah, they really come to life in a Series III AVB network.

However, have a look here. Your Macs have a built-in AVDECC controller (or you can use the 3d party Hive app) to build an AVB network that way. Not sure how well that works with just an EarMix (they get some of their settings from the mixer in the network) but it's worth a try.

Yes, it's a product within the StudioLive SIII ecosystem.
I use it with my SIII 32.

How did you use it "for the first time" and what did you like about it?

I was in a rehearsal studio with an SIII

Hmmmmmm this is quite interesting. I'll take a look. Thank you for your guidance, as always.

I was with a band I was engineering at their rehearsal space. They had an SIII as the mixer for practices and they were all on in-ears. I noticed the boxes on stands and am always looking for new headphone solutions for the main recording space I freelance out of. I quite liked using them; they felt more rugged than the Hear systems and quite a bit more stable on stands than those Furman boxes. The layout and order of things made it quite easy to dial in specific sounds. I grabbed a box while they were playing and plugged in a set of Sony 7506s and thought it sounded great. Sorta wishing I could run it off the API at a local facility for bands I'm recording.
