AMD Mini PC

Grabbed my first ever AMD PC: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKF15XQJ, which spec'd out well on paper for the price.
  • AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics, 3801 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
So far it's performing really well. Attached below is an image of an orchestral project with 38 instances of Cinesamples Musio running at 64 samples and barely moving the CPU meter in the heaviest part of the arrangement. I have my Revelator IO24 connected to the USBc / USB4 port, and a 2k monitor connected via the display port.

Pros
  • Fast CPU and RAM.
  • Lots of connectivity, can handle 3 monitors.
  • Windows 11 Pro.
  • No OEM crap was installed on it.
Cons
  • Only one so far: The WiFi signal is very weak from a distance. After setup, it landed in a room directly below the router so it's very fast there, but when I was setting it up in another room father away, the signal was 4 times slower than my HP laptop.
All in all, a good choice for a DAW machine. Still need to do some testing with Vegas and Camtasia and similar to see how well it handles video editing.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. I'm trying to decide on a path forward from my Win10 2017 PC that runs fine but won't upgrade to Win11.

I would still look into the Mac M4 Mini as well. Check on price and performance. It will most probably outperform this mini PC.

I have other software that doesn't do Apple, so I'm stuck with Win for the foreseeable future

Same here. This AMD mini PC could be a great video dedicated option. My laptop gets a beating. Not from Studio One, but from all the video editing it does. Power point wise, the Mac is a no brainer. Compatability wise, I'm keeping with Windows. That does count for a lot.
