Adding Studio One to my workflow

Faderport is excellent and once you become familiar with it you will never go back. The idea is to use the Faderport, your QWERTY keyboard and mouse. All three things for the ultimate control over Studio One.

I have got Faderport 8 myself and just discovered the other day how to get it all working with Adobe Audition as well. Now that is really great if you own Audition that is. Faderport 8/16 has recently had a firmware update too. (or I only found this out recently) If you have not updated your Faderport 8/16 recently then you should do this.

I only got the single fader promo since it was the same as just buying the software alone. Hopefully it’s somewhat useful. Worse case it’s a step into the process and I can always upgrade in the future.
Thanks for sharing your experience!

I just switched over to S1 from Sonar, like many others I see here. I installed 17 Daw’s over a year ago and tried each one in turn by applying 3 different tasks / workflows I commonly use. This as said is the crucial step in choosing a new Daw.
After testing for over a year Studio 1 came out on top with Cubase a close second. Cubase is $800! I didn’t bother with Pro Tools for the same reason. $$$. I bought S1 as well as Mixcraft and Waveform which I got both dirt cheap.

For me S1 so far has no roadblocks to my workflows compared with Sonar. And I feel that support is way better. Sonar is dying a slow death and you’re on your own now if you have issues.
I just saw a survey taken last year and Studio one was near the top and was growing in popularity. Other than Pro Tools and Logic the rest were shrinking.

The single fader Faderport V2 is also very good. I was on the hardware beta team for this product. It is very powerful and can do most Faderport functions. Make sure you download Universal Control software and check that the firmware is up to date. It may not be if it has been in stock for some time in the shop. Cool thing is you can use both Faderport 8 and the single fader version at the same time without any issues. Not that most would do this. I have got it setup over the other side of my studio near my synths so I can take control of Studio One from there.

Wow! 17 DAWs! Thats some serious testing!
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I just received my FaderPort this evening and installed the included Studio One Pro 7. For the most past it seems to have gone fine with the exception of a few Plugin Alliance plugins that failed during the initial scan. I’ll need to find some troubleshooting steps since they are now blocked. I also haven’t yet only
Selected to use VST3. Hoping the issue is just with VST2. It’s late so I’ll jump on that early in the morning.

I just received my FaderPort this evening and downloaded the included Studio One Pro 7 and ran into a few Plugin Alliance plugins it didn’t like. Going to find some troubleshooting steps for that issue and then get the FaderPort software and hardware setup. Appreciate you sharing tips on that with me.

That’s first class support! Appreciate you sharing the experience.
My FaderPort should arrive today and once i register it im supposed to receive a key to the included free Studio One Pro 7. All for the same price as just the software. Not sure how useful the FaderPort would be but its essentially free.
Support is usually great and I am a big fan of the crew over there - that being said: the more info you can give them when contacting support the easier and faster it will be for them to help you. I have almost never had to wait more than a day to have an issue solved, most of the times it’s quicker. Occasionally there will be a big pile of requests from new users, for example when a new version comes out, so then it can take more time.
As a user of at least two other well-known DAWs (including Ableton and Nuendo) I can tell you that PreSonus is faster and friendlier than both of them.

It’s very encouraging and hopefully I won’t have much of a need to use support. But it is software after all and occasional hiccups are to be expected.
I installed Studio One without much issue except a couple Plugin Alliance items that didn’t pass the scan. But after a reinstall and removing VST2 and AU paths then adding the path for VST3 Everything came up fine.
The only thing I’m working on, and believe it’s an Acustica issue is that I have a bunch of “Acqua” vsts showing up in the two Acustica folders in the browser. Didn’t experience this with Ableton, but opened a ticket with Acustica. I have received confirmation on Gearspace from another user that has the same experience. But worse case I can just hide them as I’ve been able to open up several of the Acustica plugins fine.
Appreciate you sharing your experience. You along with some other kind members have made me feel welcome. Hopefully I can return the favor in kind.
Thanks,
Efrain
