Hi just checked out the new version
I will have to pay if i want it, as my year has just expired. I saw that along with various features, there is a long list of bug fixes, so if i don't pay for new licence, i don't get the fixes, this feels a bit like I'm being forced into a subscription model, Hm!

You’re not being forced into a subscription. Your perpetual license still works permanently.

If this were a subscription-only model, stopping your payments would mean losing access to the software. That is not what happens here.

What expires after 12 months is not your license, but your eligibility for new updates. And updates naturally include both new features and bug fixes. That has always been normal in software: if a fix is part of a newer release, you need access to that release to get it.

And the OP is forgetting that he already enjoyed a years worth of new stuff under his last update plan.

Only fair to support the devs if a new release is worth it to you.

If not - you can carry on - with your current version - free of any further charges.

Actually I would say it underscores perhaps the biggest advantage of the subscription model. Lukas and VP are correct - everything in the program you have works as it always has. Thankfully, Studio Pro doesn't use the user-hostile Adobe model, so you can keep using the software until the operating system changes so much the program no longer compatible.

The other factor influencing whether to get a subscription or not depends on how often a company rolls out updates. Studio Pro has always been good in that respect. That doesn't force you into subscribing, but it does make a stronger case for subscribing.
